One Mountain At A Time Tanzania

Donation protected

I am a mom in Georgetown, ON who was fortunate enough to learn about Zara Charity   in Tanzania, Africa. (click the link and you can learn about their work too!)
My good friend Tracy Pepper  introduced me to the need in Africa after she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in support of Ovarian Cancer. While she was there, she felt compelled to collect items for the porters of the mountain and the children of Kilimanjaro Orphanage.
Tracy started a group called One Mountain At A Time, to help bring light to the good we can do as individuals. Click the link to read a little more about OMAAT .

Last year, my children donated some of their toys and clothes to the children in one of the orphanages supported by Zara. I'll tell you,  to see the shoes my son wore on another little boys feet was such an  uplifting feeling.

We were given an opportunity to do it again, as our "shipping angel" offered to cover all of the shipping costs. so I jumped at the chance to help again.
My wonderful community answered my call to collect school supplies for the children who attend the schools and centres supported by the charity.

With an  initial goal to collect 10 boxes of school supplies in two weeks, I ended up with 27! The items were collected and loaded in the shipping container bound for Dar Es Saalam due to arrive by Christmas.

The funds raised here are to cover the customs fees and land transfer of the items to the various charities that Tracy was involved in directly last year. The most recent container will be going to Nyegere Secondary school and the Nuns of Kisikahaba who rescue Maasai girls and provide them with an education.
Excess funds raised will help One Mountain At A Time to continue working to fill the need in Africa.

This page was created to help us pay for the fees to get the items out of Tanzanian customs and to the people Tracy was involved with personally on her charity mission.
As little as $10 can make a big difference.
Any amount is greatly appreciated and WILL help support the strengthening of Tanzania's future, through schools, jobs and safe working conditions for all.

There is so much need in Africa, and it is my hope to do my best to fill that need. Tracy and I are not a charity, we are just ordinary people trying to change lives.

Together we can make a difference.
