Burrville Volunteer Fire Department

The Burrville Vol. Fire Dept. is a small non profit corporation that serves the people of the city of Torrington CT. The city's Board of Public Safety has reduced the funding to the BVFD from $25,000 to $12,000  and has refused to release any funds so far this fiscal year. They are doing this after the BVFD purchased a fire truck, with their own money, without asking the boards permission. The purchase was only made after our old truck, worth about $10,000 required about $8000 worth of work. While gathering estimates for the repairs, this truck became available in an on line auction. We got it for $12,000. from Woodbury NJ.  This 1996 Spartan Luverne is a rock solid truck with only 10,000 miles on it!
Our annual expenses are $25,000 and we would like to bank one year ahead.

ps. my original post had an opinion that was soley my own and had no place on a page in the name of the BVFD. The city found other facts inflammatory so I removed them as we are still meeting with the city to determine our future. Look the story up on line and draw your own conclusions.
