Let's Give Cricket A FOREVER home

Donation protected

2 weeks ago I happened to come across a beautiful Cockatoo that had been up for adoption at a local Parrot Rescue....this little guy was beautiful, loud, funny and fell in love with me immediately. He literally jumped into my arms...wrapped his wing around me and let me open his literally dozens and dozens of pin feathers. We snuggled upwards of an hour. He didn't want to go back to his stand whrn I was ready to leave. At the time his adoption was pending. A couple from my town had decided to adopt him before I had even met him. I left with an emptiness in my heart. When I got home I messaged the staff at Meikas Safe house asking if the couple had picked him up and indeed they had. I was contacted last night because Cricket had been returned within 12 hours because they couldn't deal with how loud he was and Cricket had apparently bit the husband. Some back ground about Cricket that we know of....he came from the Parrot Refuge tgat was shut down in British Columbia, Canada over a year ago. He then went to the temporary Refuge Grey Haven also in BC. Then shipped out to Meikas Safe house in Edmonton AB where he has been since. Except for the several times he's been adopted out and brought back several times. He does not like certain men, has bitten several over the past year...but he loves me or so I think. I currently have 12 of my own rescues... I know loud. I deal with loud every day. I also have parrots that don't like men and another that does like women...we respect them their space and its my husband and I so it works out well. We own our own home...no attached neighbors tgat we have to worry about noise We have a large out door aviary for the summer and I'm home 24/7 So I have the time. My problem is...I don't have the $1000 adoption fee for him. A close friend has suggested I start a go fund me account to try to raise the money to be able to adopt him...I've never done this before...and I'm afraid of the blow back that may come with it. If I can't afford the adoption fee then how could I afford the up keep that comes with him. My response to that is that, I have savings for my flock for any possible emergancy, for their care, food, toys etc. But if I take that money to rescue another, I would be taking away funds I have sent aside for the current babies I do have. My heart aches for this guy and I know I can't save them all. But I really think I can help this guy. Please help me give him a forever home. The adoption fees include his cage, his toys, and his next Welness Check up with the most amazing Avaian Vet Dr. Pam Gordy. I k ow most of you will think this is an outrageous adoption price. But Meikas Safe house provide the most amazing care and provide every thing these guys need, for as ling as they have them. They rehabilitate each and every parrot, provide the best medical care, food and toys, to each and every parrot they take in. They hokd on to these birds until they are ready to be placed for adoption and in Crickets case it has been well over a year. Now he's ready for a forever home. And I want to give him that with your help!!!
