Save Michigan's Public Schools  is sponsoring a water drive to raise money to send pallets of water directly to Flint Public Schools.  We have 6,800 loyal followers who care deeply about children in Michigan.  If everyone chipped in just $1, we could send a boatload of water to the children in Flint who will suffer the most devastating and long-term effects from this catastrophe.

Due to the critical need to get clean water to Flint as quickly as possible, the Save Michigan's Public Schools water drive will be open for donations through Wednesday, January 13th.  At that time, the water will be ordered and sent directly to Flint for distribution to Flint Public Schools.

Thanks to the entire Save Michigan's Public Schools community for supporting our neighbors in Flint.

Thank you again for your generous contribution to help Save Michigan’s Public Schools send water to kids in Flint. The last of the GoFundMe donations was finally released to us on Friday, January 22nd, so we’re moving closer to getting the water to Flint Community Schools.

We’ve had several conversations with representatives of Flint Community Schools and we’re still trying to work out some of the logistics. We’re also waiting to hear back from a company that may be willing to deliver well over 50,000 bottles of water on behalf of Save Michigan’s Public Schools. If we aren’t able to pull this off, then the money will be donated directly to the Flint Community Schools’ water fund.

We will keep you informed as this story unfolds. Thanks again for helping us support Flint Community Schools during this difficult time.

We are in AWE at the support pledged to the children of Flint Community Schools by the Save Michigan's Public Schools' community. Today we saw a HUGE spike in donations, many from the members of the Utica Education Association. Thank you to EVERYONE who is joining us to support the public schools in Flint.

A quick update - we've spoken to two officials in Flint Community Schools since yesterday. There is no doubt the need for bottled water exists and will continue for some time to come.

In Flint schools, there is no running water from faucets or drinking fountains. Right now, each student is provided with 2 bottles of water every day. Bottled water also has to be used in areas where food is prepared. While many people are donating water, they continue to be grateful for each bottle that comes in.

In talking with representatives of Flint Community Schools, we realized that we're better off donating money directly to their "water fund" for a couple reasons. First, the City of Flint coincidentally "borrowed" some of the bottled water from Flint Community Schools just before Governor Rick Snyder visited Flint for his press conference on Monday. Whether or not that water is returned to the schools remains to be seen. Secondly, bottled water has an expiration date. If we allow Flint Community Schools to purchase as they need it (instead of storing it), then we lessen the possibility of the water expiring or other entities "borrowing" from their stash. As always, KIDS COME FIRST!

Thank you again for the overwhelming support. We will offer another update in the next day or two. In the meantime, please feel free to chip in a few bucks. We're keeping the campaign open until the end of the day on Wednesday, January 13th, so we can get the money up to Flint as soon as possible! SOLIDARITY!
