Despite being born seemingly healthy in everyway, my daughter Hannah was diagnosed with a fatal neurodegenerative disease (Batten Disease) over three years ago at the age of 6. So far, it has left her completely blind, she suffers from worsing seizures, cognitive decline, dementia, memory loss, sleeping difficulties, and severe behavioral problems. Through it all, she keeps on loving, laughing, and living each day to the fullest. Within the next few years she will be wheelchair bound so we are trying to raise money to modify our home so that it is medically accessible to Hannah now (mostly her blindness and memory problems) and in the future. Do to her condition, it is no longer healthy or safe for her and her sister to share a bedroom. She has become my one true hero and she deserves to have a home that helps her live the rest of her shortened life without the struggles we are currently dealing with daily in our home. This room will also give her older sister Paige, her own room and space to do homework and be able to sleep through the night without disruption. Which makes her even healthier in the process. We are currently converting our current single car garage into a bedroom and accessible bathroom and adding a single car garage next to it. This room will also help us to have a night nurse that can give me a break and allow me to rest from time to time so that I can stay healthy for both of my children. We are hoping to finish up the house this summer.

Just a little update on Hannah and the house. We still owe almost $5,000 on the house renovation and we are coming up with fundraising ideas to help pay it off hopefully by the end of the year. The new room and bathroom are so wonderful, it is hard to say exactly how much this has changed our home for the better, but here goes. Hannah loves her new room, especially the new shower. Having a safe place to help her get clean without trying to step in and out of a tub is huge for her. Also, the new shower has a handheld as well, so when I am helping her, We dont have to do the shower shuffle as we used to call it. It was always such a nerve racking thing for her and towards October she had become literally terrified to switch places so we both could use the water. She spent most of February sleeping up to 7 straight hours and boy, that was so good for both of us. She is back to waking multiple times a night, but we manage just like we did before. She came down with a respiratory infection in early February and on day 2 of that, she ended up getting the flu. We almost took her to the ER a couple times, but I dislike the ER sooo much that I have vowed to keep her home and only take her to the ER as a last resort. Luckily I was able to keep her hydrated just enough and her fever was only above my limit at 104 for a few hours one day. She has fully recovered from her illnesses now and we are grateful that this is about the only illnesses she has had over the winter this year. Her pace is slowing down some and she is getting tired more easily, but we just keep doing what we are doing with and for her and hope she can continue to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible. The new room has also had a positive impact for her older sister too. She now gets to sleep all night long and have her own space to have a bit of quiet time. It has been a great thing for all of us. Thank you each and everyone of you who have donated and continue to support us with your kind words and heartfelt messages. If you wouldn't mind sharing our gofundme page, we would greatly appreciate it.

With love,

Hannah's momma.

Thank you, each and everyone of you. You bought bracelets and shirts, helped with yard sales, put on a jumpathon, a fashion show, made and sold headbands, donated money, bought materials, and stuff for Hannah's room, donated time and labor to help us with this enormous remodel. Bob and I worked so many extra hours, nights and weekends adding to the pot for over two years, selling our things, and saving every penny we could to help make this happen. A huge thank you to EDF Construction, Window World of Boise, Majestic Flooring, VanZandt Electric, Accessible Building Concepts, Veterans Plumbing, BMC West, Action Garage Door, Nampa Floors & Interiors, Insulation Plus, Blueprint Specialties, Perma Treat, and Ethan's Reason for partnering with Home Depot to get a grant for some of the materials. Some companies donated labor, some gave a small discount, some gave materials, and some we paid full price for, but they all did a great job! Thank you all for every penny, we stretched it further than it would go and then some. Now to find ways to pay off the several thousand dollars we had to put on our credit card to get it done, but I will work on that another day because Hannah will get to sleep in her new room tonight and we couldn't be more excited for her. Btw, Hannah used her new shower for the first time lastnight and when I showed her the handheld, she couldn't believe it. She laughed and giggled the entire time we were in there and not once, not even for a second was scared or nervous about falling! Heals my heart to know that she now has what she needs out of her home.

Last month I reached out to all of you via Hannah's facebook page and asked for help. We almost have the house completed but unfortunatedly, we have more then depleated our funds, so we are having a difficult time getting her the "final touches" for her room. A friend suggested I create a gift registry at walmart and so I did. To our surprise and excitement, most of the items have been purchased and shipped to Hannah. She couldn't be much more excited. Their are a few things left on the list, please go take a look and see if their is something you can help with or consider donating a few dollars to help get her room done so she can move in. https://www.walmart.com/lists/view-baby-registry-items?id=824b6874-b2b9-4503-9c49-7e3ad2bd23a7 thank you all for your continued support, without all of you, none of this would have been possible.
