Stem Cell injections for my knees
Donation protected
I have had knee problems over the past 5 years and have had a torn meniscus repaired in each knee and the arthritis cleaned out. The arthritis is back and if I am on the floor at my job for more than an hour, my knees start to hurt tremendously. I have difficulty going up and down stairs.
I had been laid off from my job for almost 2 years and in that time, our student loans had to be put in forbearance and now total almost $45,000. Having to still pay on those at 47 years old is truly a burden but we are paying on them and that doesn't leave any extra for anything else.
I have done the Plasma Rich Platelet injection and it has offered relief but just not enough relief. I want to do the stem cell injections but it is not covered by insurance and the cost is around $20,000 (I was told I may need to do more than one set of injections with the amount of arthritis I have in my knees). I can't (and really don't want to) get my knees replaced because I am not over 50. The doctor has recommended a partial replacement but that would only last 10-15 years. With the stem cell injections, after 1 or 2 injections, there is a possibility that I would not need any surgery at all. This procedure is not covered by insurance and that is why I am asking for help in covering this cost.
