Created February 4, 2018
Kayla Schmader, 28, was diagnosed with IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) on January 18, 2018. Kayla’s cancer is Phase 3 and highly aggressive. After consulting with doctors, and medical professionals, she has decided to have a bilateral mastectomy. Kayla’s surgery is scheduled for February 12, 2018, after which we will know more regarding specific treatment options and the exact stage of her cancer. Please keep Kayla and her family in your prayers!Kayla and her husband Sonny are parents of two beautiful children Nyla, 5 months, and Kason 3. They have a loving group of family and friends supporting them. Unfortunately, there will be major costs associated with the surgery and the medical treatment Kayla must endure.Kayla will also be unable to work for an extended period of time due to her treatment, and her field of work as a LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist).

Kayla and I have been best friends for 20 + years. Met in elementary school here in Freedom, Pennsylvania and have been inseparable since. Her strong will to fight this makes me realize this won't define her or change the super mom that she is. She's beautiful inside and out and this journey will only make her stronger.
These past few years have been very trying for the both of us, but through god and a strong friendship we've come out stronger than ever. I know I need the help of you, and our community to see that Kayla and her family can focus on getting her better, with the best care possible.

We are doing everything we can to organize funds to support Kayla and her family through these extremely difficult time. She will be using this fund to help pay medical expenses and monthly bills until she can get back to work. If you wish to help in other ways aside from a monetary donation, or if you would like to know additional information, please contact Stephanie Bonzo at stephiebonzo@gmail.com. Thank you so much for taking a moment to visit this fund. We will update her journey as frequently as we can.

Thanks to family, friends, and being able to stay at home during my treatment to get the best rest I could possibly get. Thank you for your kind words and generous donations. Hi everyone! Just a quick update... I’ve started the next part of my treatment last Friday. So far, things are going smoother. 11 more to go!!!
It’s been exactly 6 months since my diagnosis. To say this has been a life changing experience is an understatement. I’ve gone through many challenges this year, that I never thought I’d have to experience. My diagnosis was definitely a shock, but it has also been eye opener. I’m grateful to be here and to be surrounded by so much love and support. Thank you all for making these past 6 months easier on me.

Greetings!!! Good news, I am almost HALF way through my chemotherapy treatments! My treatment has been split in two different types of chemotherapy. The first half of my treatment, Adriamycin and Cyclophosphamide ( AKA.. AC) has been very hard one. I have finished 3 rounds of AC and have ONE more to go!!! I will not lie, it has been very challenging and continues to get harder on me. I am looking forward to completing this last round of chemotherapy and moving on to the next part of my treatment. Starting in the middle of June, I will begin the second half of my treatment. I will be doing 12 rounds of Taxol. I have been told by the doctors, nurses, and other wonderful survivors that Taxol SHOULD be easier on me!! Yay!!!! It has been a blessing to be able to stay at home to get the proper care that I need. I honestly do not know how I would be able to do this without all the amazing support I have had. Attitude is everything and I would like to say, I have a good outlook on this considering the situation. My attitude is the way it is, because of you! The endless support I have, I will forever always be thankful. Keep the prayers and positive vibes coming!
