LEE BLAIR INDEPENDENCE FUND

Donation protected
On January 17th my dad, Lee Blair suffered a severe spinal cord infarction, which is essentially a very rare stroke occuring in the spinal cord. He had low risk factors for this kind of trauma but it has left him paralyzed from the chest down. He is now at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, the best facility for the rehabilitation of spinal injuries in the Southeast.

At the moment, we aren't certain he will walk again. We know we are facing a hard road, but my parents' attitude is remarkably positive and we continue to stay hopeful as a family. We are creating this page to raise awareness of this episode in Lee's life and to help enhance his eventual independence.

My dad is an incredibly dedicated husband and father. He is a kind, compassionate man who taught me to try to understand each unique soul I meet and their individual paths. He taught me that compassion is not weakness and that strength is not virtue. For the longest time, I thought his awesome empathy was the way of the world and when I realized the truth, l learned again how special Lee Blair is.

He is the best person I've ever met.

My mother Jeri, my brother Patrick, my Aunt Wendy, and I have been grateful for the outpouring of good wishes and prayers we have already received. Likewise, we have been overwhelmed by Dad's positive and upbeat attitude. He describes himself as "highly committed" and we know he will work his ass off to regain his independence.

We plan to invest this GoFundMe in the durable items he will need for a new and very different lifestyle. It's early in the process but we are anticipating a shortfall of $9,000 for equipment after the insurance coverage.

Thank you for your time and for your continued prayers and good thoughts for Lee and our entire family. Please help us share this GoFundMe page so that everybody who cares about Lee and Jeri will have an opportunity to help.

I'm often fond of saying, "DON'T GIVE UP", and that's what we will do. With everyone's prayers, good wishes and support, we will get through this. Thank you all!
