Stolen car/ help us through winter!

Hi all,
Recently a somewhat devastating event occurred in Annie and my world. We have been planning a bike trip from Tahoe to Guadalajara (Mexico) for the past few months.
This involves extensive work building a bicycle, investing in parts and accessories for the bicycles, and all the applicable gear.
We stayed a night in Portland with much of this equipment in Annies vehicle, locked and we thought secure.
In the morning, we found her car missing and our plans for the winter subsequently dashed.
The investment in gear alone that was stolen is upwards of 4000$ including cameras, bicycles, camping gear, etc.
This does not include the investment Annie made in her vehicle, which we are still hoping to recover.
We would never normally ask for help like this, but here we are. Anything is appreciated.
