Michael Fights Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
Michael has been a healthy 8 year old with a funny and loving personality. On January 4, 2016, he woke up complaining of having difficulty breathing, bleeding out of his mouth, and bruises all over his body. Three days later, he was diagnosed with "aplastic anemia"--- cause-- Unknown. All of a sudden, his bone marrows stopped producing white blood cells- fights infections; red blood cells-- carries oxygen to his body; and most importantly, platelets- responsible for clotting. Thankfully, his older brother, Daniel is a bone marrow match. Transplant surgery is scheduled for Feb. 16, 2016. He's been receiving platelets and blood transfusions until transplant. He's not able to go anywhere with lots of crowd due to his immune system being weak. He's disappointed that he's missing school and will be missing his first year of "kid pitch" baseball. His new friend, "Poe Dameron", build a bear, has been helping Michael with anxieties when needing to be poked for blood draws and transfusions. Michael is our hero!
