Beaverton High School is turning 100! It is also 45 years when the Legendary Spring Musical was created and defined by the late, great James N. Erickson.
For 29 years, Beaverton High became nationally famous for not doing High School theater; we did Broadway/Professional caliber shows with elaborate sets and costumes with incredible choreography.
Since Erickson retired in 2000, the department has gone through staff changes and budget restraints and from a budget of $40K to $5K.
Now with the leadership of Mr. Shannon Dery and the interest again in student leadership and high production values, the James N. Erickson Legacy Project is proud to offer assistance as Beaverton embraces the past and looks to the future.
In May 2016, BHS Theater will mount a Huge spring Musical of GREASE (a show Erickson did himself in 1990 that starred future recording sensation, Stephanie Schneiderman as Sandy). Many Alums will be back and will have a role and be mentors to the students. $3K in 2015, compared to 1990 isn't much but it will provide the show much needed materials for an elaborate set and costumes, a Professional Choreographer, and could boost awareness and support for the Erickson Legacy, a legacy that is still felt in the halls today but not experienced.
As you see on the Video, we got some star power from Olivia Newton-John, herself.
All funds allocated will go to he Choregrapher and Lighting.
