Stephanie Cartagena's Brain Tumor

Hello everybody! My name is Gary Lee Dalton and I am Stephanie Cartagena's tio (uncle).
As most of y'all know, my niece was diagnosed with a brain tumor Saturday morning, after a week long suffering of migraines and vomiting. She was transported from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham in an ambulance where early the next morning doctors confirmed the findings. She underwent surgery Tuesday morning. The surgery lasted approximately 10hours. At the start of the day there was almost twenty families, but by time we got word that Stephanie was doing fine and waking from the anesthesia, we were one of the last families remaining. The doctor took a before and after CT of the brain and he was almost positive that he removed all the tumor, but would not be certain until an MRI was preformed. After the results came back from the MRI, the doctor discovered that he removed 97% of the tumor. He was pleased with the results and we are only waiting for the biopsy results on the tumor. As you could imagine Stephanie has slept majority of the time, but she is alert and attentive. She was so alert after her surgery, she told Timothy (her boyfriend) that he couldn't go prepare for his finals back in Tuscaloosa. Tito and Maybel (her parents) have felt so special with all the love and prayers that family, friends, and members of the MDB have giving their baby.
Stephanie has been the anchor in this bump of the road we call life. She has remain strong and confident since day one. She was in such great spirits that Sophia (her sister) and her were doing the manikin challenge prior to her surgery. Tito and Maybel have been pushed to the limits as parents both physically and mentally (I couldn't even imagine what they have dealt with).
As we approach Christmas and the spirit of giving, I am asking that all friends and family step in and help Tito and Maybel deal with the financial burden of such a major surgery. They have dealt with so much stress that it is only right that we as a family step in and help! Tito and Maybel are very deserving because they love all as if they were one of theirs (I know first hand with my baby Eli). So, let's step in and give this wonderful family a Merry Christmas!!!
Every dollar counts and will go straight to Stephanie's medical expenses and any unforeseen expenses in the future!!
