We were all stunned to see Eric and Charlotte's faces on TV a week or so ago. News of the event made national if not world news, but news if fleeting and tomorrow there's a new story; the old is forgotten.
Beyond the big picture tragedy of "they've lost everything" is all the small things that made life happy and enjoyable, the day to day things that we all take for granted. Life, however, for Eric and Charlotte must go on day by day. Many people and the sailing community came together and did a wonderful job of filling in the immediate gap and donated a substantial amount of money to help them get back on their feet. Let's not, though, forget the smaller things that made life enjoyable in their floating home. Charlotte enjoyed sewing and now she has no machine.
