A Buddy for Brinley

Brinley is our sweet, rambunctious, goofy and adorable almost five-year-old girl. She loves Shopkins, dogs, playing on iPhone/iPad, music, dancing and Lays potato chips. She can melt your heart in a second. However, she struggles to cope with daily life. Brinley has autism. She has difficulty dealing with normal tasks like getting dressed, answering a question, or going to the grocery store. These are things that you and I can do without thinking. For her, they are huge mountains to climb. It must be exhausting to scale the Alps day in and day out.
We are looking for ways to make her life more manageable. After a great deal of research, it seems that a great solution will be her own service dog. These amazing animals are more than just companions for children with autism. They can help them break out and increase their social interaction with other people. They can literally save their lives if they, like Brinley, tend to wander or run off. They can help them manage their meltdowns that come with sensory overwhelm or frustration. They can even help them sleep through the night! These are all issues our girl struggles with, so we are hoping that this dog can help her as much as they have helped countless other families.
