Hi Guys,
So for everyone who doesn't know, I am in school full time again at SFA, majoring in English with a Secondary Education minor. That just means I will teach English in high school. Jeremiah and I will be moving to Nac shortly and I heard yesterday Jeremiah has been accepted into a really great PK program there in Nacogodoches! This is a school that has top of the line learning experiences. It is literally a miracle that we were able to secure a spot for him.
The place is on the SFA campus in the early childhood learning lab. It is a 30 million dollar facility with ages infant - 5th grade.
The student-teacher ratio is like 5-1 for his age. Also, every classroom has at least one insructor with a Masters degree, preferably two.
Once in the PK program we will be able to apply for the incredible Kindergarten program next year. The curriculum for this particular school is specially made to not only meet Texas requirements it exceeds it, by far. Each age/grade is designed specifically for that classroom by a very experienced group of educators.
The classrooms were beyond anything I have ever seen. Each room has an observation room you can enter and observe class. There are video cameras and microphones so we can log in remotely and observe class as well.
Everything in the facility was immaculate. Clean and seemingly brand new. I promise it blew away anything you could imagine. I spent about an hour observing several rooms yesterday and with the amount of teachers in every classroom, every child was well attended too. Not dirty or crying or unhappy. Not one. Again, Mind blowing.
Also, getting in now we will for sure be on the waiting list for the Kindergarten program. When he enters K next year he will have to go through a lottery process, yes I'm serious. They literally randomly select the children who will be accepted. The good news is if he is accepted he will automatically be accepted every year till 5th grade.
So here is why I made this page, the tuition for PK is $675 a month. Yes, I know that is insane. But, I will be getting it paid for by CCS. Since Jeremiah has been in public school so far this year I havent needed CCS so I have to apply from the beginning. If you don't know, CCS is a state funded program that will help pay for childcare for parents in school or working. The problem is it will take about a month to get everything to go through with them. They will not hold Jeremiah's spot for that long. As a matter of fact, I have to give them half on Tuesday if we want the spot. This is a ton of money for one month but like I said this is top of line. It is NOT day care. He will be in a PK program that far exceeds anything a public school could ever dream of offering. Once in Kindergarten there is no tuition, just have to cover food costs.
So if all my family and friends can pull together and see if we can get at least some of his tuition together that would be awesome. I will find a way to get my baby into that school so I hope you all can help us out even just a little!
Any one of you guys who have spent time with Jeremiah know he is a very gifted child and I whole heartedly believe he needs to be pushed academically because he can be. This place will do that for him!
