This is Sean, Bob's Husband. Our Beloved Lion, and the love of my life, my husband, Bob Fialkowski suffered a massive heart attack early Thursday morning on April 27th. He's in the best cardiac care hands at French Hospital in San Luis Obispo, CA. He was brought back three times with paddles and the people who were with him (his gym club) valiantly performed CPR until paramedics got there. The doctors said that it saved his life...he would be dead without the CPR. Words could never convey my deep gratitude for them and their skills. His angels are working overtime at the moment.
He's still in a medically induced coma and on a paralytic to keep him in a deep healing state to conserve his energy to heal his brain function. It's all about deep rest. He's had 4 heart stents put in and in ICU for at least another 4 or more days. His body has been through massive shock and a lot will depend on his neurological state when they wake him up from the coma. This is a marathon not a sprint.
I imagine if all goes "well" I will be off work for awhile and then a reduced schedule....Bob will be unable to work for months. At the same time our income drops dramatically, our medical bills will be skyrocketing. Not a good combo. I'm asking you to gift bob what you can. He will have had an ambulance trip, a major heart surgery, been in the ICU for almost a week, with 24/7 one on one care (amazing) and then will be going for cardiac rehab to a transitional center in Arroyo Grande, CA. possibly for months. It's all very uncertain right now.
What IS certain is that we don't have the money to absorb this tsunami in our life. This is going to be very expensive and We need help and we need lots of it.
