Melanie Crow Smith Final Expenses

Melanie woke up on a Sunday morning, like so many of us do. She woke up with a smile on her face and with love in her heart and got ready for church. She had been through some struggles recently and was coming out on the other side of it, into the light. She had recently started a new job and was looking forward to a new chapter in her life, with her 2 amazing children, whom she loved dearly.  If you were to ask any former coworker, family member or friend, what they remember most about Melanie, it would be her bubbly happy personality and the way she would light up a room with her smile. As church service was coming to a close, Melanie began to feel sick, so she decided to leave a few minutes early. As she was approaching her vehicle a masked man shot and killed her in the parking lot. He then went into the church and fired more rounds injuring others.  We take comfort knowing where she is today.  Melanie was first and foremost a child of God. She was a devoted mother and wife and loved all of her family dearly.  If you are not able to give financially, I just want to ask that you please pray for all of Melanie's family, especially her children. Also, please pray for the others who were injured and for all of those who were present at church. Church is our safe place. Church is where we go when we are heavy with burdens and when we need peace and comfort. That sense of peace has been shaken for so many, because of a senseless act of hate.  All money raised will go first toward any final funeral expenses. Anything over that will go directly toward her two children Breanna & RJ.

Melanie was my second cousin. My mother and grandmother are in Tennessee this week with our family members. They are there to support one another and pay their last respects to Melanie. When campaign has reached it's goal/closed I will be withdrawing money in the form of a check from my bank made out to a family member (most likely Melanie's father). I will be taking the check to them, so they can appropriate funds to the correct places. Anything left after final/funeral expenses are covered will be put in an account for the children to be used as needed.

Thank you all for your kind words, support and prayers for our family. You have been such a blessing and have brought added comfort to the family.

I want to say THANK YOU again to each and every one of you for your love, support, financial assistance and prayers for our family. I have closed the campaign this morning so I can withdraw funds and get them to her father asap to help cover final expenses. From the bottom of my heart I am truly thankful. I just want to ask that you continue to pray for the family especially the children and her parents. Pray for the church members and pray for the shooter. We know Melanie believed in the power of prayer and God can change anyone's heart. There is so much sadness, devastation and heartbreak going on right now in our country. Just continue to pray for God to turn those hearts of stone toward him. Pray for peace and comfort for all of the lives that have changed over the last 2 weeks because of hearts full of hatred. You all have been a light among the darkness. You have been a blessing to our family and you just don't know what that means to us all. I hope you all have a blessed week .
I would like to leave you with these verses of hope and encouragement

Matthew 11:28
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 147:3
3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

& lastly but certainly not least,

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
What comfort it brings to know that Melanie knew our Lord and Savior and that we WILL one day see her again, if we are alive in Christ. My hope and prayer is,that if any of you are not with Christ and you do not know him in your heart, that you will find him. He is with us always, sometimes we just don't see it. God knows your burdens and troubles and he will carry you and walk with you. Peace be with you all <3

Please continue to pray, as our family lays Melanie to rest today. There is a sense of peace knowing she is with our Father in heaven, but hearts are still heavily burdened, as we want her here with us instead. Please pray for peace and comfort for everyone including her 2 children, parents and all of those so closely connected to her. I want to say such a heartfelt thank you to each and every person who has donated, left kind words, and sent condolences and prayers. I can reassure you the family is seeing and feeling it all. I've talked with my mom a few times daily and she is with family in Tenn and they are overwhelmed and grateful for all of you. Just keep the prayers coming.
