We want to keep the dream aloft, that deserving writers can someday have their work set in type, if not in stone.
Over the last TEN years, A Word with You Press has hosted over 50 writing contests, whose sole (or soul!) purpose is to help authors connect to kindred spirits, perfect their craft of story telling, and save the world. We share their stories on line, which are written to a new prompt we provide with each contest.
Five authors have fed the beast for the last ten years, inspired by the muse who deprives them of sleep.
Ed Coonce, Laura Elizabeth, Jon Tobias, Mike Stang and Kristy Webster write with such passion and poignancy that they deserve a wider audience than our website can offer.
So we are publishing our third hard-copy anthology: "5x5: Keeping the dream aloft."
We have given them free rein to write what they feel without being limited by a prompt or word-count.
The result is a collection that will leave you wondering why they are not household names.
The money we raise will cover the cost of book design and printing, and arm each author with a stack of 20 books they can distribute among kindred spirits.
Will you help us? As the Editor-in-Chief of A Word with You Press, I have subsidized every publishing endeavor we have had to date, because I am aware that not all great writing is trendy or commercial, and that SHOULD NOT BE A REASON talented artists are denied publication. This time, I can't do it on my own. Like the lyric from Leonard Cohen: "I can't move this thing alone."
