The Marcotte Family

Hello family, friends, and everyone else who is concerned, We have gotten a lot of calls and messages asking how we have been and how they could help. We very much appreciate all of the people who took the time to check on us, even though a lot of them went through the same storm as us. Sandy and I have been holding down the fort during the whole ordeal. She has been the rock to hold it all together. Madison (14), being the GIRL she is, left for higher ground immediately. Blake (17), has been a big help for me the last couple of days. Nick (20), has been in Beaumont with friends helping where he can until he can get back to work. The helicopter rescues in our neighborhood have finally stopped and the sounds of kids in the neighborhood have come back. We will survive this and be stronger because of it. We got about one foot of water in our house and 3 feet in the garage in Bridge City Texas. As most of you have probably heard, due to the area we live in flood insurance is almost unavailable so we are left rebuilding on our own after the water recedes and the supplies start rolling into town. Neither of us have been able to work yet, and our "paycheck to paycheck" lifestyle will catch up with us soon. We have lost flooring, Sheetrock,bathroom and kitchen cabinets, furniture, clothing, shoes, (I need to stop...it's almost too hard to type it all out.) Just look around and imagine if you were standing in a foot of water, what would be gone? That's what we are dealing with. If you don't feel comfortable donating to us, we will understand, but please donate somewhere. Local churches and organizations have been the ones we could count on for fresh food, water and cleaning supplies, those are the ones getting help to the community first and fastest.
