In Honor of Chandrikaben Patel
Donation protected
We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved Chandrikaben
Patel of Uttarsanda, Gujarat, India passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013
in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. She was born
in Dakor, Gujarat on April 4, 1933.
Chandrikaben was married to Chandubhai Patel, who passed away July 5, 2003, and
is survived by 5 of her 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 2
great-grandchildren. The funeral will be
held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 4pm at Wages & Sons, 1040 Main
Street, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in her honor to Dutt Jalaram, a temple founded by Chandrikaben and her late husband, Chandubhai Patel, in Chrandrikaben's hometown of Dakor, Gujarat.
Chandubhai and Chandrikaben dedicated their lives to helping those less fortunate than themselves. In 2002, they built the Dutt Jalaram Mandir to honor Jalaram Bapa, the Hindu saint from Gujarat whose lifelong mission was to feed the poor and needy. Dutt Jalaram serves as a pilgrimage destination for thousands of devotees throughout the year. In Jalaram Bapa's spirit, Dutt Jalaram provides food to approximately 100 poverty-stricken individuals every day. On special occasions, such as Jalaram Jayanti (Jalaram Bapa's birthday), Dutt Jalaram will serve food to approximately 8,000 pilgrims that have come from across the state of Gujarat to worship.
