In Memories of Darlene Madison
On September 3, 2015 at 7:03pm; Darlene Madison passed away. She tried her best to fight against cancer, but it was too much to handle. She was a loving, sweet, caring woman who loved to joke around. Below, is the story of how she obtained cancer.
Hello, my name is Darlene Madison-Hurd, I was born December 17, 1959; in Galveston Texas. Im a mother of four, three boys and my youngest a girl. 2015 has been a very difficult year for me. Towards the end of May this year,I went into East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas(Where I lived)because of a lingering back issue, so the doctor could conduct some test. But before I could get the results, my mother passed away. Her name was Mamie Bell Hurd and she passed away in Galveston,Texas June 2, 2015 on top of that my yougest child was graduating from Robert E. Lee high school the same week on June 6th. With the help of pain medication I put myself on the back burner to be there for my dauther and mother. After the graduation and burial of my mom, I traveled back home to Tyler from Galveston to find out it was a back tumor on my back, stemming from breast cancer that spread to my bones because it wasn't caught early on.
An emergency medical precedure was conducted to remove the tumor so I wouldn't become paralyzed and as my condition became worse, simple daily activities turned into something I couldn't do by myself anymore. I had no choice but to move me and my dauther into my oldest sister's residence, Cynthia Netherly who is 62 years old herself is trying very hard to help keep me up on my appointments at UTMB and also M.D Anderson. My strength is limited but my spirit is limitless.
