Touching 40 dreams, 40 hopes, with one donation!
On May 14 and 15, 2017, Voice of America (VOA) Amharic service brought to us a moving story of young people from Harar city, Eastern Ethiopia. The true inspirational story touches on the lives of 40 street children who rely on leftover foods to pursue their education. These children are organized under the supervision of Tessefa Alebachew, who also once lived homeless on the streets of Harar. These children don’t have proper clothes or food to eat. Unfinished remains of people’s meals are the only reliable food for the them to survive.
The children had gone through traumatic lives. But they sustained the stress and fear of life and built their dream around their education. Most of them are outstanding students, who not only exhibit academic excellence but also have additional skills in sports and the like. With only small support to their difficult circumstances, they can succeed.
Tesfa’s focus now is to make sure the children don’t grow dependency. He already has developed a business plan for them to establish a laundry and ‘injera’ baking business. But that requires a minimum of $4500. That way they can work to support themselves and eat fresh meal that is not leftover. In the meantime, we can help these children cook and have a decent meal at home. It only costs $20 to feed a child for one month, and for 40 of them, $4800. We can at least help them for six months, until they establish the business, which means we only need $9300. By only supporting their necessities, we can change the lives of these young people forever.

We believe Tesfa has brought the children this far, and together we can take them further to fulfil their dream. We rely on our culture of reciprocity to help the children walk into their future. ቪኦኤ ሰሞኑን በሐረር ከተማ ስለሚገኙ ተማሪዎች ልብ የሚነካ ታሪክ አስደምጦናል። ታሪኩ የጎዳና ተዳዳሪዎችን ሰብስቦ እና በአንድ ቤት ውስጥ አድርጎ ለማኖር እና ለማስተማር እየጣረ ስለሚገኝ ወጣት የሚያትት ነው። ወጣቱ ተስፋ አለባቸው ይባላል። ተስፋ ከሰዎች እያሰባሰበ ኪራይ በሚከፍልበት ቤት ውስጥ 40 የጎዳና ልጆችን ለማስተዳደር እያታገለ ነው። ተጣጥሮ ትምሕርት ያስጀመራቸው እና በአሁኑ ሰዓት በተለያየ የትምሕርት እርከን ላይ የሚገኙት እኒህ ልጆች አኗኗራቸው አሳዛኝ ነው። ከትምሕርት ቤት መልስ ዕድለኛ ከሆኑ የሚቀርብላቸው ምግብ ከሆቴል ቤቶች የተሰበሰበ ትርፍራፊ ነው። ከእርዛት የሚታደግ ልብስ፣ ከእንቅፋት የሚያድን ጫማ፥ ለእነሱ ከስንት አንድ የሚገኝ ዕድል ነው፡፡
እንዲያም ቢሆን ብዙዎቹ መንፈሰ ጠንካራ እና የዜግነት ድጋፍ ካልተለያቸው ትልቅ ቦታ የሚያደርስ ተሰጥኦ እና ብቃት ያላቸው ናቸው። በዓመታት ውስጥ ያለፉበት አበሳ በስነልቦናቸው ላይ ጫና ማምጣቱን ተጋፍጠው የሁለተኛ ደረጃቸውን በከፍተኛ ውጤት ያጀቡ፣ በስፖርት እና መሰል ተሰጥኦዎች ትልቅ ተስፋ ያላቸው ፣ በትንሽ ድጋፍ ትልቅ ማማ ላይ የሚደርሱ አይነት ናቸው፡፡
‹‹ልጆቹ የተረጂነት ስሜት እንዲይዙ አልፈልግም›› የሚለው የእነዚህ ልጆች አሰባሳቢ እና ደጋፊ ተስፋ አለባቸው ለበጎ አድራጎት ስራው ቋሚ ገቢ የሚያስገኝ ዕቅድ በራዲዮ ጣቢያው ላይ አጋርቷል፡፡ የመጀመሪያው ዕቅድ በተከራየው ቤት ውስጥ እንጀራ እያገገረ ለሆቴሎች በማቅረብ እንዲሁም የልብስ አጠባ አገልግሎት ለአካባቢው ነዋሪዎች በመስጠት የሚገኘውን ገቢ ልጆቹ መሰረታዊ ፍላጎቶቻቸውን የሚያሟሉበት ለማድረግ ነው፡፡ እነዚህን ሥራዎች ለመስራት ሚያስችሉ ዕቃዎች መግዣ በትንሹ 100ሺ ብር ($4500) ያስፈልጋል። እንዲሁም ልጆቹን ቢያንስ ሥራውን እስኪጀምሩ ድረስ እቤት ውስጥ አብስለው እንዲመገቡ የስድስት ወር ብናዋጣላቸው በወር ለአንድ ልጅ $20፣ በአጠቃላይ ለ40 ህጻናት የ6 ወር ወጪ $4800 ይሆናል። በአጠቃላይ በድምሩ ($9300) ይሆናል። እኛ ለዚህ ገንዘብ የበኩላችንን ጠጠር ብንወረውር ተማሪዎቹን በብዙ እንረዳቸዋለን።
ስለሆነም ውድ ኢትዮጵያዊያን! የሚበሉት የረባ ነገር ባይኖርም፥ ትልቅ የሚያልሙትን፣ የሚለብሱት የሚረባ ባይኖራቸውም፥ ተስፋ የደረቡትን እኒህን ህጻናት እና ታዳጊዎች፣ ታሪካቸውን እንቀይር ዘንድ የተቻላችሁን ድጋፍ ታደርጉ ዘንድ ወደ እናንተ አምጥተናል። በምንታወቅበት የመረዳዳት ብሂል የቻልነውን በመለገስ ካሉበት ችግር እንድንታደጋቸው ይሁን፡፡
ለዚህ አካውንት የሚሰጡት ማናቸውም መጠን ያለው የገንዘብ ድጋፍ የ40 ህጻናት እና ታደጊዎችን ነገ የሚያፈካ ነውና ከልብ እናመሰግናለን፡፡ ስለ ደግነታችሁ እና መልካምነታችሁ ክብር አለን-በድጋሚ እናመሰግናለን፡፡
