It is with great sadness to update that Maureen Jagier Skinner passed away on 12.23.18. Maureen fought ovarian cancer with such grace and feistiness. Most did not know of her extreme suffering because she would, as a journalist, report the clinical facts and then instantly turn to positivity and joy. She would then genuinely enjoy and focus on everyone around her. Often having everyone laughing and maybe even singing and dancing.

Stuart Scott, an ESPN journalist, once said that "You beat cancer by how you live, while you live, and in the manner in which you live." By his definition, Maureen beat cancer. She made it to every family, friends and school event when most of us might have passed on a few. She is already greatly missed.

Maureen often shared that her greatest life accomplishments were her daughters, Shannon and Meghan. In honor of Maureen we have changed the focus of this GoFundMe and are directing all donations toward an educational fund for her daughters, The Skinner Children Education Fund. Maureen set the bar for her daughters by graduating from Drake University in Broadcast Journalism with honors.

Thank you for all of your support and prayers. They gave all of us strength.

With love and gratitude,
Maureen's Family

On Tuesday, October 30th, Maureen received, as she describes, heartbreaking news about her ovarian cancer diagnosis.
Her chemotherapy has stopped working.
The disease is spreading.
Treatment options are running out.
She will begin a new  short-term chemotherapy regimen this Wednesday, November 7th.  If it is successful, it's effectiveness tends to last only a few months.  Then she must find a clinical trial anywhere in the world that may help ASAP.  If you hear of ANYTHING that might help, please let us know. Your support and prayers have provided  miracles in her healing so far.

We have 3 requests;

1) Continued Prayers
2) Continued support including leads on additional Clinical Trials
3) Additional financial support for current and future impending medical bills.  Thank you for all of your previous support.

*Late spring and early summer, Maureen spent much time hospitalized as her tumors had  grown preventing her from keeping any food or liquids down. Maureen was extremely weak, barely able to walk and under 100 lbs.
Maureen was fortunate to receive some relief over the summer but now is in a similar situation. Her family is working hard to find a clinical trial for her.

Please consider urgent financial sponsorship for Maureen's medical costs - a day - a week or however much you can.
Please share our request with as many as possible.

With our sincere hope and love,
Maureen's family
