Please help us save the life of our nanny…
We are a Belgian couple that lives over 6 years in South Africa, Johannesburg. Our daughter's nanny is Cindy. She is 32 years old, originates from Zimbabwe and works for us on a legal work permit.
Cindy was end January diagnosed with chronic renal failure. She was first admitted at Joburg Gen for one week, but they did not start any treatment as she is a foreigner and is therefore ineligible to be added to the kidney dialysis waiting list. Lots of searches on the web brought us to private Dr Savvidou (Olivedale) and to National Renal Care – a private dialysis centre. Cindy was admitted (in intensive care unit) at the Netcare Private Hospital (Olivedale) until she was stable enough to undergo the dialysis.
Cindy is stable now, has 2/week dialyses (in the ideal world she would need 3/week) and will need these for the rest of her life - or until she can get a new kidney. We in the meantime managed to get her onto Discovery Medical Aid, whom will start paying for her treatments from 1 April 2017...
We need to keep her alive till that day = pay for all treatments/dialyses/medicine/bloodtest etc in private care... We are unable to carry this financially on our own and therefore ask for your help ! Please help us...
From day one, dokters told us to count on R250.000-R300.000 for 1 year.
So far it costed us R 100.000 (from end Jan till eind May 2016) and it will cost us another R 140.000 till 1 April 2017 to keep her alive based on our current costs. I am still negotiating (or better, begging for) better rates at dialyse centers / blood test labs etc.
Cindy is staying in our house and gives her full salary for the treatments / Lindi (her mum) helps us with babysitting / extra works for free to help... These 2 ladies will have given R 60.000 at the end of the road...
We received R 80.000 sponsoring so far - from family / friends.
This means we need another R 100.000 (5.800 euro) sponsoring to save her...
A lot of small helps make a big one…
May we please ask you to help us keep Cindy alive?
Thank you for your help... It means so much for us and for Cindy's family !
