Beautiful Betty came to us at the tender age of 8 weeks old having already had one home. It became apparent that she couldn’t open her mouth more than a couple of millimetres. Betty is the happiest little soul and has a real zest for life. She is growing, gaining weight and really enjoying her food but has to have this liquidised so she can lap it up.
After several visits to the vets and X-rays, treatment was then given to rule out possible trauma or infection. Sadly she did not respond to any of this treatment and it is now believed that Betty was born with a congenital defect.
At the moment Betty is thoroughly enjoying her life and free from any pain but sadly this will be short lived once she starts teething. If she can’t open her mouth by then, to be able to chew and sooth the pain, this will become unbearable for her. So we must act quickly on this!
We have managed to find a specialist vet near Kendal who will perform a CT scan to determine exactly what’s causing this and where we go from here. We are hoping that he will be able to perform an operation on her mouth and in some way give her movement from the jaw.
We want to do absolutely everything we can for Betty and give her the future she so deserves but can only do so with your help.
Please donate anything you can. We will need to pay for CT scan, possible operations, medication and specialist food. Every single penny really does count. At this moment in time we have no idea what the final costs of all this will be but if there is any funds left over then rest assured that these will be used for other cats in our care that have been abused or neglected.
