Cody's Medical and Recovery Fund:  I am starting this campaign on behalf of my nephew Cody Swenson for his Medical and Recovery bills.

Cody is a 25 year old handsome, smart, witty and vibrant young man who has had really bad luck over the past few years.

On February 12, 2016 Cody was in a accident skydiving at "Skydive Dallas" in Whitewright, TX.
He hit the ground going anywhere between 50 and 70 mph.  Cody had to be lifeflighted out of Whitewright to the Medical Center of Plano, TX.

On February 18th, we currently learned that his
Health Insurance Company does not want to pay for his claims.  "His claims so far are at $ 248,000 and climbing".  Cody has 2 broken legs (Femurs) and has fractures through his pelvis.  Cody was told he should not even be alive, but something or someone was looking out for him.  Cody is going to have months of physical therapy, doctors appointments and rehabilitation.

Cody is also a "Cancer Survivor", he was diagnosed at the age of 17 with "Ewing's Sarcoma"  The cancer was located in his spine and vertebraes.  He had 2 major surgeries involving the removal of the "Cancer " and years of Chemotherapy.  Cody's 5 year survival rate was less than 50% when he was diagnosed with "Ewing's Sarcoma" in 2008, he beat these odds and has been cancer free 5+ years.

Once he survived this horrible disease, Cody wanted to feel free, to live life to the fullest, to experience what most of us are afraid too and never have a regret if the "Cancer" should return.

Please help get him the care he deserves.

Cody is now out of the hospital, and in-patient physical therapy. He got out of the hospital back on March 1st. He is currently living on his own. He has a great outlook on things. He is being very patient with his recovery, and he is listening carefully to his doctors. He has about 4 more weeks left before he can put weight on his legs, he says once this happens that is when the real physical therapy will take place. His first out patient physical therapy appointment will be on March 15th. While this is quite a bit away, he has been doing some of the exercises he learned in in-patient physical therapy at home to keep up. He is in great spirits and looks forward to starting his out patient therapy. While Cody is not at Doctors appointments he has currently been teaching himself a programming language to keep his mind sharp. He says since he was a kid he wanted to learn how to program computers but never got around to it. He is very excited to be teaching himself the C programming language. He likes to say one of Albert Einsteins quotes quite a bit, "once you stop learning, you start dying." He would tell his skydiving students this all the time, to get them to progress further in the sport, and go after different licenses, or ratings. Cody is very grateful for everyone's love and support through this whole process. He says if it was not for all the kind, awesome, and generous people in his life, this undertaking would be quite difficult. He is extremely thankful for everybody who has helped him and been there for him.

February 22, 2016 - Day 11 of Cody being in the Medical Center of Plano.

Cody was transferred to the Rehabilitation Center on Friday - February 19th, but was returned back to the Hospital the same day due to the extreme amount of pain that he was feeling. The Doctors are thinking that they maybe able to transfer him to Rehab today if a bed should become available. Cody has been learning to carefully transfer himself between his hospital bed and wheelchair, and has also been trying to stand, but only for a few seconds. The Doctors have informed him that he would not be able to walk for 8 to 10 weeks. But on a good note, his Reconstruction surgeries on his spine are still strong and in good position.

As of now, we are still waiting to get information from the Hospital Social Worker about the "denied" Health Insurance claims, we are hoping this will get resolved as soon as possible. This will take a great deal of stress off of Cody so that he can focus on his recovery.

All the monies collected for Cody will go for Hospital Expenses and Future Living Expenses. Cody will have to move to be closer to his Doctors and Physical Therapy appointments and he will not be able to have a job for a minimum of 9 to 12 months.

Cody "Thanks" all of you for your love, prayers, generous donations and kind words of support.

Thank You, Aunt Tiffany
