Baby burro attacked by Mountain Lion

I live in Surprise, Az. We have wild burros out where I live. Over the years I have watched out for them. They know and trust me. On Friday I received a phone call from a neighbor. A Momma burro and baby were nearby her house and they were injured. I went there and recognized Lil Abner and his Mom. Abner was in bad shape. Couldn't touch hindleg to the ground. He was hobbling around. He had dried blood all over him. Mom was injured on lt. front leg. Then I noticed Mom's head and neck. She had claw marks down her head and neck. Mountain Lion was the only thing big enough to make those marks. I was given permission to take baby home to my house and call vet. Mom was too wild to catch but baby needed attention asap. I had Vet come and he worked on Lil Abner. He put iv Catheter in neck and clipped and cleaned wounds. We also checked to see if leg was broken. As far as we could tell wounds were at least week old. Abner was in shock and had infection raging through his little body. We found a 6x4 inch deep wound in armpit. Many claw marks and bite wounds to legs and head , all over his body. How this little guy survived this is probably due to his Mom and his spirit. Mom bulldozed the Lion to save her baby. She's my hero for saving this brave little burro. We kept him in a stall at my house taking care of him. On Easter Sunday I became concerned he wasn't eating enough and thought he looked worse. I rushed him to Chapparal Veterinary Medical Hospital in Cave Creek, Az. They met us and took him in immediately. We did x rays and determined leg was not broken but lot's of gas , infection. He needed to be hospitalized. Abner is slowly improving. Tomorrow they are tapping his hock joint to see if infection is in joint. They have been helping this baby with round the clock intensive care. This baby deserves a chance at life that's why I took him in. He survived a horrific attack and he needs our help. Please help me take care of this brave little burro. We need donations to help pay for his vet care. His Mom is still out there but she's getting better. Don't let her fight for his life be in vain. Please help me help this precious baby. He's only 10 weeks old!
