Lilly is a happy bright, energetic 8 year old girl. She lives with her parents, and three younger siblings. Lilly was very sick this winter, and after several trips to the local emergency she was flown to Ottawa by Orange Air unexpectedly and diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia. This means her bone marrow does not make enough blood cells for her body. After several transfusions a bone marrow biopsy and subsequent testing it was determined a bone marrow transplant would be the best route to a cure for Lilly.

The treatment will begin with chemotherapy to destroy the deceased cells and marrow, and the transplant will then replace the diseased blood forming cells with healthy ones. Their doctors are advising the entire transplant process from chemotherapy until normal cells grow will be approximately six months with many months of recovery to follow.

Lillly's siblings have all been tested to be bone marrow donors, and her 4 year old brother Jamie is the only identical match . Unfortunately this treatment is not available in her community so Lilly's family will be required to live in Southern Ontario for her treatment. They will be required to travel back-and-forth from Ottawa CHEO hospital to Toronto Sick Kids hospital. As you can imagine this will create a large financial burden for their family. Dealing with this situation is hard enough without having to worry about the expenses. Lilly's mother is a stay at home parent, and her father is currently finishing residency at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Unfortunately her father has had to take a temporary leave until her health has improved. Many of the families expenses and living costs will not be covered by Ontario health insurance.
Please donate to help support the family in pursuing a life-saving treatment for Lilly. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
Please share and help spread the word for Lilly.
Thank you.
