Gored By Bull

Donation protected
Hi I'm charles and I'm trying to raise some funds to get my car back and home to vic from north east Northern Territory in Arnhem Land as it was stuck there after I was gored by a wild scrub bull while living away building a medical center in the community of numbulwar. It has also rendered me unable to work and make an income which hopefully is only for the remainder of the year but at the moment is indefinite . Here is the story of how it all happened.Having worked for 4 weeks straight doing 10hour plus days a few of the boys and I decided to go out with a few of the local aboriginal fellas on Sunday to see their land have a fish and if we saw a killer for them we would get one and cut it up to fill their freezers. So we went out for the day and got to see some of Australia that not everyone gets to in a way not many people get to seeing many animals and landmarks and hearing stories the boys told us. After a decent day out we stopped at the last camp to flick a lure and pick some mangoes and head just out the back to see if we could shoot a redskin (wild cow) for the freezers. We saw what we thought was a big cow about 500m out so Adam grabbed the gun and ran after it on foot leaving the others at the car. Adam put 3 or 4 into its chest which we thought was enough, then he realised it was a big bull and he ran off. Not wanting to let it die slowly i chased it and Adam gave me the gun I staked into about 50m and put 4 into its head the bull was dying so I started moving in closer trying to load another bullet into the gun. It dropped to its knees and at that moment it saw where I was, I tried to get a round in and couldn't, he got up and charged. I shit myself, turned around and ran trying to step round a tree for shelter which I slipped over and the bull lifted me up by the horn and thew me 3 or 4 meters away puncturing my left butt cheek peeking my pelvis, tail bone and puncturing my bowel, then came over to finished me off putting another hole in and tearing open the back of my arm and trampling me. Micheal then grabbed the bull by the ear making it chase him which it only made it a few meters away and died. Thank god for his rodeo history. I got up grabbed my arse then looked down and could only see blood and shit everywhere, to which I said "I think it got me" the boys just look in shock so I jump in the car and pull my self into the seat and Blake tried to plug some holes with his shirt. Micheal jumped in the drivers seat and the rest of the boys jumped on the back. After about 5 mins of driving the rear tyre blew out to which we had no spares cos I had blown 3 in the last 3 weeks working bush. So we had to keep driving on it. Half an hour in the the car started to over heat and turned off so we unloaded all the gear off the back to make it lighter. Off we went again only cruising at a pace that didn't push the car to hard keeping it under 90 degrees while Adam directed us to a hunting camp not to far away. An hour and a half passed and I was getting cold and starting to feel a lot more pain so I asked bjay to get his phone out and write a few words to my family and friends incase I didn't make it, he refused to and got light headed him self and he dusty and Blake kept feeding me water and keeping me awake. 2 or so hours after being hit it was getting dark and we were coming into the camp beeping the horn and flashing the head lights. The guides and his partner came out wondering what was going on only to see me bleeding out in the passenger seat. So they ran inside and got an old mattress and towels to try stop the bleeding. While trying to get the sat phone working, it was stuffed, so he and Micheal got in his car and drive to the next nearest phone which was about 2 hours away to call for an ambulance. 4 hours passed while laying on the ground and all the boys took turns keeping em awake and holding pressure on the holes. Micheal returns with confirmation the ambulance is coming and gives directions on what to do so try stabilise me. Another few hours pass and he wonders why they are taking so long so he grabs a car and leaves again. He's gone for nearly 3 hours, then we hear a car and headlights coming, not the ambulance! Just the owner returning without Micheal saying he dropped him off way back at the other car and he went back towards numbulwar looking for the ambulance and other hour of so passes and more lights and a few beeps of the horn I new it was finally them, with none other than Micheal driving the ambulance after finding them and bringing them to me the police also. So they get to attending to me and stopping bleeding and dressing a few wounds and putting some fluid into me. As at this time it was about 2:00am they could not land a plane anywhere or get a chopper out to me as it was too far between fuel.We loaded up the ambo and Police car with everyone and headed out to numbulwar with Micheal insisting on driving again. But unfortunately could only drive 5-10k/ph as every bump and corrugation would force me to tense and push more blood out, so it was about a 5.5h drive back to numbulwar. After a long drive we got to numbulwar and waited for a Careflight plane to land which could not leave till late because of weather and lighting. So laid in the old numbulwar medical clinic getting some obs done and waiting for plane to land while all the locals we had met over the time I was there came in to which me well, two hours passed and we loaded up to get on the plane, we got to the airstrip I got on the plane and convinced they let bjay come back in with me fro he was my brother from another, I then received some much awaited pain killers ketamine and felt fine then haha and received many more on my two hour flight back to darwin. We landed in darwin to be greeted by my boss matt who assured me I would be fine and was getting straight into care and he met me at the hospital. I was in emergency for a couple of hours while waiting for a room getting treatment and chatting nurses up while on ketamine. Then I woke up in a hospital bed where I would spend the next 5 weeks with a colostomy bag and plenty of treatment to get me walking and moving and eating again. It was a long road to just get out of hospital and get the pain sorted so I could get home for Christmas so I flew home on the 23rd of December standing on the flight the whole way. I was home for two weeks when I became septic and an abses grew under my tail bone causing me more and more pain so I was admitted to hospital again. After being in hospital for a few days the doctors tried draining the abses to only puncture my bowel more times. So I was transferred to another hospital where I spent the next week having scans and seeing what happens next. Now nearly 5 months after it happened I still don't know when I'll be back at work or when I'll be able to do normal everyday tasks with out severe pain or when I will get this colostomy bag off and after the news today that I won't be given any help to get my car out this is my last option at trying to get it so I can bring it home and sell it to make some money and pay off my loan and live for the rest of the time I'm off work. No I didn't have income protection as it ran out and I mustn't of renewed it and when going between NT and vic I have t realised. I do have a sickness allowance but it barley covers phone bill insurance and repayments let alone living costs, fuel to go down to Melbourne for doctors and hospital stays and medication. It's a hard time and I hate putting the burden on everyone around me but this will just help me get by till I'm back up and running again in hopefully only 8 more months. Im trying to get about 5k which will get my transported into Katherine and then down to vic where I can get it back and clean it up a bit and sell it. Thanks for listening and thanks for anything that can help out cheers
