Let us begin by getting on the same page. We didn't lose our house.
Or our belongings or any of our loved ones.
We are lucky ones.
Electric was finally restored yesterday after 17 days, and we were able to eat hot food and had been well prepared with fresh water.
I always joke about how we are like cockaroaches. Unable to be squashed.
But it becomes different with your spirit.
----- Last night I woke up late, even in the comfort of air. And laid in bed for hours. Scared. When I finally went to sleep, it wasn't sleep. But nightmares of aid shipments at ports not being delieved to people. Some dying. Food..that wasn't half rotten, sitting there. Unable for people to grab. Dreams are just as real as reality. I couldn't wake up, as much ad I tried. I was paralyzed, trying to reach out, screaming and crying. When I finally woke up I got a message from a friend. About the solidarity everywhere. My heart is lifted, and I want this to be the norm everywhere. I do not want this attention on PR to go away, like I am. Puerto Rico needs Solidarity ALWAYS ----
But we are going. We have to, for now.
Our job has always been unstable..working in start-up cannabis in a historically conservative island with a downed economy that affects everyone harshly. And work is slowly coming to a close for us.
Without full time employment it is impossible to stay.
Now, with all that is..the tremendous and deeply sad disaster that is Hurricane Maria, we don't want to be an added budern to an island with few enough resources as it is. More people in dire straights need all that help.
And we had planned to leave...however...we had also planned to save money for 6 months to do so.
But this happened.
All considered, I didn't want to make a gofundme. I thought we could get by ourselves, albeit struggling. I just don't want to struggle anymore. Especially now..after this. We need your helping hand.
Our plan is to relocate to Vashon Island, Washington State, where we have been offered housing and land share. Our goal is to sell everything we own to make ends meet..
We have our flight booked. A place to stay. A place to move. Now we need to organize an amount to put away for the purchase of a car and gas to get to our new home.
We came to the conclussion driving is the same cost as flying as far as gas and food expensed goes..and allows us to reccuperate on the road and see much loved friends and family that we have not seen in a long while. Which is highly needed.
We have recieved some funds already from loved ones, so the amount we need to raise is adjusted to that.
Most of all, if you cannot help us, please share. Maybe it will get to someone who can!
