Kylie's Cancer Crusade

Donation protected

Hello,

My name is Tamara Miller, I have created this page in the hope to get donations to help finance the recovery of my sister Kylie Sutton (Miller), a mum, sister and respected registered nurse/midwife at a local hospital. She is currently undergoing treatment for Advanced Stage Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Kylie has been unable to work for several months now and will not be able to return until she is able, which has left her with no income. Please continue reading for further explanation and background.

For those who do not personally know Kylie, she has always been a strong-willed woman who has always helped absolutely anyone and everyone she can. She has had her ups and downs in life (as everyone does) and has always just “kept swimming” without giving up. Kylie is a single mum to her 12-year-old son who has just started high school this year and has been having a rough time accepting his mum’s sick and can’t do all the activities that she could before.

I’m going to give a little background information for those who don’t know my family and some of what we’ve been through.

In December 2014, we lost a very special man (my step father, Brent Laverack) to cancer, it was an extremely rough time for our family as it was aggressive and horrific to watch someone you love deteriorate so rapidly.

So, moving back to the current situation, as you can imagine, as most people Kylie thought cancer was the least likely diagnosis she would receive, however, after months of unexplained lethargy, illness, pain and numerous biopsies it is the shocking news she received. Kylie has suffered with extreme anxiety about cancer for a long time and this news took an enormous emotional toll on her. Kylie started treatment in December 2016, exactly two years after burying Brent. It was a huge day both physically and emotionally!! I have been to every chemotherapy session with my sister and see how scared she is, but she always tries to put a smile on her face.

Seeing someone you love having to go through this is terrible, seeing it twice is something I never thought I’d have to witness. My sister and I are very close and I have created this page as it is the one thing I can try to help with that will make a difference in this situation. Putting a smile on Kylie’s face is not something I have ever really struggled with until now, however, comedy does help distract sometimes. Kylie has had to lose majority of her independence, she moved back in with our mum, who helps as much as she can. Kylie tries to keep her son’s life as normal as she can including trying to make 80km round trip to his high school every morning and afternoon, with family helping when we can.

There is so much more that I could say about my sister, my nephew and this whole devestating situation, however, I don’t think everyone wants to read a novel. So ALL IN ALL I’m basically saying that these are two wonderful people who have been FORCED to deal with cancer again. I hope to appeal to the kind nature of the public and encourage donations to this amazing woman!!

I also hope none of you have to go through this journey yourselves, even once! Remember, any amount helps, no matter how small. Everything is appreciated.

Thank you so much!
