Hey everyone!
My name is Josh Shierling. I’m 18 years old and on May 27th I will begin my walk across America.
From the research I have done, it will take me 7 to 9 months to walk across America. I’ll be starting my walk at Myrtle Beach in South Carolina working my way through North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and finishing in California. I am planning the route so I can hit cities to resupply.
I estimate that I will need to spend $140 on food each week. If I can complete my walk in 7 to 9 It will add up to $5000 for food. Additionally, I will need an estimated $100 for shelter on nights where I am unable to sleep in the tent. I will also need some extra funds for if I walk through my shoes or blow a wheel on the stroller, estimated $200.
By the time I leave for my trip I will have set aside $3000 and put around $1,500 into my gear. I will be trusting on the generosity of others to help me with the remainder of my expenses.
This GoFundMe is for my personal expenses. I’ve already purchased my laptop, GoPro, stroller, tent and all the other gear I need.
