Jeremy Jones Recovery Fund
On Wednesday January 11th, legendary freestyle snowboarder Jeremy Jones of Salt Lake City was in a snowboarding accident in the Utah Backcountry. As a result Jeremy suffered multiple broken bones in both of his legs and had to be Life Flighted to the nearest hospital to undergo emergency surgery. Usually Helicopter Rides and Snowboarding mean good things. This particular ride was good in that it got Jeremy the medical attention he needed quickly but the Heli ride and the injury have also brought enormous unexpected and unplanned expenses.
Jeremy’s influence and impact on the snowboard community and beyond is hard to capture in a few words. His 20+ year career as a professional is filled with Progression, Innovation, and Style. A dedicated ambassador to the sport, role model for both young and old, and a committed family man, Jeremy Jones now needs our help. Now is your chance to support a true legend and give back to someone who has given so much to the sport and lifestyle of Snowboarding. Please donate what you can to help Jeremy get back on his feet.
Alex... Most of these guys have to get insurance independently. It's not like a cubicle job that offers good benefits. And the insurance they have often has limitation and/or high deductibles. Things like that helo ride may or may not be covered and that's $30k right there. The surgeries, the pt, not being able to work and get paid, etc. Much of that is not completely covered and when he's not riding he's not getting paid.... so there is the loss of a way to make a living. This is going to be a year out for him. That's a year of losing the majority of his income. Beyond that... very few professionals make the kind of money you have in your head. Just because you see video parts and things like that doesn't mean they're millionaires. Very few get there. And on top of that... you've got the wrong Jones. The Jones you're thinking about is a Tahoe local not a Utah local... and he's just fine. Road today if I'm not mistaken.
Alex, I can't comment on who this gentleman is, but I work in EMS and usually normal insurance doesn't cover air ambulance flights and they can be in excess of $20000-$30000 that the patient is in return responsible for. It's terrible that it is not covered, but when it saves someone's live there's no question it is worth it
Who is the creator of this campaign and what is their relationship to Jeremy? Mike Nelson - who are you? One would assume that Jeremy Jones would a) have health insurance to cover these sorts of things since he is a professional snowboarder and b) can afford some medical expenses since he is a famous snowboarded and oner of a pretty successful snowboarding company?
Wishing you fast heal Jeremy, we love you ! I try to make my own insurance and after I said to the insurance company that i skate and snowboard, they told me that is different category... so I can`t afforded... watched the new movie with Nicolas Muller and he says that the insurance is 10K a mont.. and I`m thinking how many snowboarders can afford that insurance.. so please don`t write to much
Well I wrote to Jeremy Jones several accasions last year and the beginning of this year. I even some to his reps. Never got a call back or response from anyone. I lost my leg in a snowboard accident. They act like I'm a nobody. So I'm doing the same. Period and I wasn't asking for a handout...
I will never forget the day I ran into you on a Tuesday on Milly. I said what are you doing here on a School day and you looked me in the face and said "I'm going to be a pro snowboarder" and you made it happen. FC! Mark Bell, Brandon B, Mitch N., JP love all you guys. Speedy recovery man!!
Alex, clearly you need a lesson from your parents in respect, how insurance companies work, and how to desipher different people in the world with the same names. Karma is real, so I hope your health insurance is up to date bud.
Alex, check your facts. Jone's snowboards is owned by Nidecker not by Jeremy. My son is basically a pro rider and works his ass off nearly 7 days a week with hopes of being able to mearly pay for his life style through snowboarding. These pro riders are not the ones with the fancy cars and big houses around Tahoe. They are the ones that lay it on the line and inspire all of us to live life to the fullest and follow our dreams. With all this snow we have gotten in Truckee this year. Todays powder turns are for you Jeremy Jones. Get well soon, hope to see you at the "Rocker memorial banked slalom"
Alex Jordan, you should probs know what your talking about before you leave a stupid comment like that, just sayin bruh.
Jeremy, Don't know you but I am friends with Mitch and Katie. I am very familiar with the area in which you were caught in the slide. We have a cabin not far from Mud Lake Flat, just below Shingle Mill Flat. We ride sleds often in that area and my husband has seen the slide. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your loved ones. For those of us that love the backcountry and respect its power, we wish you all the best for a full and smooth recovery. I am sad to see all the negative comments. Slides can happen anywhere and everyone is vulnerable to the forces of mother nature. Please be mindful of others when you leave a comment. This could have been your dad, your mom, your brother, your sister, your friend and or maybe you. The point is, Jeremy is one of us and deserves compassion and support. Kindness is free, medical expenses are not.
