Hi! I'm Stella! I'm a six month old Boston Terrier.
I need surgery so that my body stops polluting itself, and making me sick!
I was born with ectopic ureters and they cause me to tinkle, leak, & piddle uncontrollably.
I AM potty trained and will happily go outside to pee with my brother, but not all of the urine leaves my body and collects inside me. This causes bacterial buildup which causes infection that leads to a vet visit and more costly antibiotics.
It's a cycle that has repeated itself twice now and will continue if I don't have the surgery to fix it.
My mom and dad have done everything they can to help me. We have been to many vets and I have been treated for bacterial infections, had ultra sounds and x-rays. I have had urinalysis’ & cystocentesis’ and cultures grown. They have found me cute diapers that allow me to run around the house without too much of a mess and I can even jump on the bed and couch to snuggle a little! Even Max and Skyler have stepped in to help care for me! Changing diapers & bathing me daily and even offering their summer job money to help out.
My dad has sold his surfboards and my mom has taken on tutoring jobs.They've used their savings and credit cards to try to keep up with my care (which has surpassed $1,000), but with the news of a surgery that will cost up to $3,500, their spirits and hearts broke.
They talked about other options, which thankfully ended up not being options they would consider...
:( Putting me down because my little body will continuously be sickly and in need of antibiotics.
:( Giving me up to a rescue for someone else to hopefully care for and deal with.
SOOOOO....
They have scheduled an appointment at the University of Florida Teaching Veterinarian Hospital for December 28! This amazing crew will care for me and do their best to fix this intricate problem with the necessary surgery. It'll be a long drive with a hotel stay, but everyone is sure this is the best option for me!
My Christmas Wish and New Year Cheer are to be a happy and healthy pup that can run around and play with the other dogs!
My little family and I will be so very thankful for any of your support!
My mom's a teacher and she has always said,
"Sometimes, It takes a village!"
