Loss Kits and Cuddle Cot for CCMH

Imagine that every memory, every photo, every moment you will ever have with your child has to be taken, held and created in just minutes. When a family experiences a loss of baby they have precious little time to spend with them. Those moments are all they have for a lifetime. The nature of the situation dictates that they must keep the baby cool. A Cuddle Cot is a cooling device that allows families to place their baby in a bassinet and cool the body. This gives grieving families more time with their babies. Precious moments that are so desperately needed.
On April 13, 2015 our daughter, Cora Jane Elizabeth was born sleeping at 37 weeks gestation, just two weeks from her scheduled induction. She had turned breech causing umbilical cord prolapse when the water broke. Depsite heroic efforts by the staff at Charles Cole Hospital in Coudersport, PA our perfect daughter never took her first breath. The doctors and nurses were amazing, but in the shock and the emotional pain of loss and greif and the physical pain of an emergency c section I did not have time or ability to process. I didn't know how to fill the moments with every single memory I would ever have of Cora Jane. I didn't think to dress her or bathe her, touch her feet, or call our families to come hold her. It was all too much too fast. Our small, rural hospital lacks the resources that larger hospitals have, such as a Cuddle Cot. A device like this would have given us the moments we needed to just breathe, to think, to soak in every memory of our baby girl.
We would like to collect funds to donate a Cuddle Cot along with other resources for both familes and staff of Charles Cole Hospital. There will never be enough time. But, if we can give families even just a few moments longer with their babies it will mean the world to us.
