Today our mother, Kathleen Reed, came home after a long day working as the Sullivan's cake decorator. She pulled into her driveway only to find her house of 40+ years completely engulfed in flames. Mom immediately ran to the front door as a passerby screamed, " Don't go in there! It's too dangerous!" Mom opened the door despite pleading from onlookers who were now on the scene. She knew she had to save her late husband's dog, Prince. Little did she know, Prince would be all she could save from this devastating fire. What happened next is nothing short of utterly heartbreaking. Our mother stood helpless as she watched her whole life go up in flames. What was once a gathering place for the whole family, is now a pile of ashes with no resemblance of her home. Mom lost EVERYTHING. She spent the next few hours desperately trying to hold her emotions together while firefighters swiftly worked to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, the house no longer stands, her possessions no longer exist and the tangible memories of our father are forever simply memories. Today I watched our mother unsuccessfully search through icy wet soot looking for our father's urn. She was still in her work uniform, the only clothing she has. She has no house, no furniture, no personal possessions, no toiletries and no clothes. We are asking for donations to help mom replace some of the items that were lost in the fire. She has a long road ahead of her rebuilding and replacing some of the things she spent a lifetime acquiring. Please consider helping Kathleen in her time of need. No amount is too small. Also, please share this link to help Kathleen rebuild her home, her memories, her life.
