Brodie's Medical Fund

Donation protected
My name is Lindsey Coleman and our family met the Pursch’s in August of 2013 through Second Baptist His Kids Weekday Pre-School.  Brodie, then 3, and my daughter were in the same class together.  My husband and I knew the first day what a special little boy Brodie was when he ran up to us, and said “Hi, my name is Brodie!”, and then asked our daughter hers.  He then proceeded to tell us all about all the sports he loves to play.  I remember thinking how incredible that a 3 year old was introducing himself on the very first day of school, and he couldn’t wait to begin playing with all of his new friends.  Brodie quickly won over all the girls in the class through his incredibly kind and compassionate spirit and loving personality.  I used to ask Audrey if Brodie ever threw a good ‘ol fashioned temper tantrum because I literally never saw anything but a huge smile on his face.  It may sound cliché, but he truly leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets.

As some of you are aware, Brodie was diagnosed with a Pilocytic Astrocytoma brain tumor in October 2015.  He was suffering from dehabilitating headaches/weight loss/mood swings, and Audrey and Brian were certain something was not right.  After numerous doctor visits and tests, the tumor was discovered and gratefully, the biopsy came back benign.  However, the location of the tumor is critical as it presents a very real threat to Brodie’s vision and endocrine system.  It is connected to his optic nerve and in turn compressing his pituitary gland.   Brodie was immediately admitted for surgery which was very successful.  However, doctors were not able to remove all the tumor and it began to regrow.  As we enter 2016, the Purschs will be taking Brodie downtown for weekly chemotherapy treatments at MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital.
While I cannot fathom the emotional, psychological and physical struggles their family faces daily, I do know this is something no parent ever dreams about.   Now age 5, I know Brodie would love to be playing soccer or t-ball in place of weekly chemotherapy treatments.  While feeling blessed he has done well these first rounds of treatment, and counting down the months to the end of this new weekly routine, Audrey and Brian are confronted with extensive medical bills.  In addition to the surgery 4 months ago, and the hospital bills that will be coming this year, there are daily unexpected costs as well associated with Brodie’s brain tumor.

I asked Audrey and Brian if they would allow me to arrange this opportunity for friends and family to show their love and support.  I know they already feel overwhelmed with gratitude for the meals, visits, and the numerous prayers that have been prayed, but many have asked how they can do more.  If you would like to contribute towards their medical expenses, any amount is certainly greatly appreciated.

All the funds raised by everyone's generosity will be used by the Purschs for medical expenses , and other expenses that may arise during the course of Brodie's treatment.  The funds are automatically sent through go fund  me to the Pursch's nominated account.
