Nurse, caregiver, sister, daughter, soon-to-be wife, friend to all. The most genuine person you'll ever meet. This is Hillary. She's full of smiles, so you may never have guessed that she has Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs, digestive system and other organs in the body. It is classified as terminal. There is no cure, but advancements made recently in treatment have increased the average life expectancy to 40 years; a significant improvement from the previous average. For people with CF, life involves a lot of medical treatment. This often involves lengthy hospital stays, as well as traveling to locations that have specialized treatments. This means a lot of time away from work, friends, and even family.
Hillary lives hard, loves hard, works hard, and fights hard. She doesn't let her illness control her or define her. She's the person that works back-to-back 16 hour shift days to provide essential health care to others; that skips her own bathroom breaks to help other people's loved ones to the restroom; that misses her lunch period to make sure her patients are well fed.
The last day Hillary was at work she was unable to breathe. Though she tried to fight through her pain to stay and continue caring for her patients, we knew she needed help, and she was escorted to the ER, where she was admitted to the hospital. Shortly after her arrival, doctors found that her lung had collapsed. After a week in the hospital she was released, only to have to be readmitted an hour later. Her lung had collapsed a second time. Hillary is currently in the hospital with doctors trying to decide what her next crucial step is.
Hillary cares about others with her whole heart. Now it's our turn to show her how much others whole-heartedly care for her with "Hearts for Hillary": a way of giving back to her, someone that has given so much and touched the lives and hearts of so many.

The funds raised will be given, 100%, directly to Hillary to help her with medical care expenses, traveling (for medical care), and life expenses while she is away from work.
