Help Donna Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Hello!  My name is Chris Haas and this GoFundMe campaign for my sister, Donna Haas Morgan, to help her fight cancer.

Donna had her first brain surgery on February 9, 2015, after tests showed she had a tumor on her brain.  We all held our breath hoping the tumor was benign as we waited for the pathology results, but the diagnosis came back as glioblastoma multiforme – cancer.  Donna was very positive and upbeat as she went through weeks of radiation treatments and chemotherapy and on May 27, 2015, her doctors told her she was cancer-free.  It was one of the happiest days of our lives!

Less than six weeks later, after having a routine test, Donna was informed the tumor was back.  And so began a year of aggressive treatments to keep the cancer under control.  Even though she was no longer able to work, Donna faced her cancer with a positive attitude.  She was not going to allow it to beat her.

The Avasitn infusions she received helped for a period of time but unfortunately, the cancer was persistent and her doctors determined a second surgery was necessary.  On June 20, 2016 Donna had her second brain surgery.  By this time she had been fighting the disease for over a year and her body was not as strong as it was when she had the first surgery.  Recovery has been slow and in August she was hospitalized for several days due to brain swelling.

Insurance does not pay for everything and with deductibles and co-pays, medical bills add up fast.  Even so, Donna and her husband covered costs by tapping into their savings and retirement accounts.  They have never asked for help, but they need it now.

Donna is about to start a new treatment plan that is promising, but the treatments cost $350 a month and she will have to pay for them out of pocket.  I’m starting this campaign in the hopes of raising enough funds to help offset those costs, which will add up quickly.  The funds will also go towards other costs, such as medications, that are not fully covered by insurance.

My sister has been fighting cancer for over 18 months and it’s been mentally and physically draining on her, but her positive attitude always amazes me. This campaign is to help ease the financial stress as she begins her new treatment plan and all funds go directly to Donna.  Family is everything and my siblings and I are very close.  We deeply appreciate any donation you can make to help our sister in her fight for life.
