Help me Graduate College!!
My name is Bri; I’m a 21 year old senior student at Purdue University getting ready to complete my final year for my Bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a focus in history.
I’m passionate about my calling to the teaching profession because I enjoy watching students learn something new and watching them accomplish tasks they did not think they would be able to. I want to be a part of educating the future generations. History may be a boring subject to most, but it is how we got to where we are today and I will feel honored to be able to teach that to future students.
However, I need your help to finish my degree!
My family has recently run into financial troubles due to corporate downsizing. We have gotten some financial aid from FAFSA, however, it does not cover all of my tuition for the coming year. To help reduce costs for my parents, I commute to college for a period of 3 hours a day. So all that is left for my parents to pay is about 3,500 dollars. Anything extra that is made will go towards school supplies and gas money so I can get to school and take my courses and student teach!
I will keep those who donate updated in my testing and status at school. Thank you for making my dream job come true!!
It has been a long time since I have updated - this school year has been incredibly busy! So here we are, at last. Since the fall semester began, I have completed both semesters with Semesters Honors and Dean's List. I passed my final test for licensure and completed my minor, my degree, and student teaching!!
So, thank you to everyone who donated and supported me this last academic year. Because of all of you I will be walking with my graduating class and receiving my degree. Because of all of you I will be able to apply for my teaching license and find a job for the next school year (I have already started on applications).
Thank you so much for your support!!!!
I am happy to announce that I have passed the Government Test! This is the last of the three that my college requires of me. The next one is Geography and while not required for school, it has become one that will help me become more marketable!
I also have to thank everyone who has donated to this campaign. Earlier this week I was able to pay for my fall semester at school!!! Thank you for helping me reach that goal!!
I have gotten my score back for the history course content exam and the result is officially a pass...by 4 points.
I have to admit I was a little disappointed with my score. So my mom suggested I go look and see if anyone else was having a difficult time with the exams as well. What I found was that many people have not only failed the exam once but upwards 5+ times. This shocked me since I was passing on my first time in both of the exams I have taken!
So in retrospect passing by 4 points is actually pretty good and I'll take it. To all of the students taking their exams for their teaching license, Good Luck and don't give up on your dream!!
I have taken the History exam (otherwise known as the part 2 of the course content saga)!
I do not yet have my official score report back yet, but the unofficial score report says it is a pass !! The next is exam is Government!
Thank you to everyone who has donated!! Two down and Two to go...
Gurl oooohshit, you're an overachiever if ever I met one! That's amazing news, Briana, I am extremely happy for you, and for your parents also. Your future is certainly bright and a lot of pupils will benefit from your competence and fervor in your field of choice. Best wishes!
