Northern Manhattan is Not for Sale/Alto Manhattan No Se Vende (NMN4S) is a multi-racial, multi-lingual organization that has been fighting for housing justice in Inwood and Washington Heights since January 2016. Our neighborhoods are the last remaining working-class communities in Manhattan with the highest concentration of rent-controlled buildings in the entire city. We are currently under siege by powerful real-estate corporations looking to transform our community into profits, displacing our neighbors and friends in the process.
NMN4S has grown exponentially, especially since our recent victory in stopping the Acadia Realty Trust from entering the community through a spot-zoning that had the backing of the Mayor and the overwhelming support of the entire city government.
As an organization comprised of members who speak Spanish and English, the language barrier has represented a challenge to building leadership that is reflective of the community. We have no funding to support simultaneous interpretation for our meetings.
We are on the front lines of the fight for affordable housing, and your material support is needed. Our goal is $1200. Please help us function as a diverse community uniting to defeat powerful interests that have been driving people off this land for centuries.
