TPLS Christian Ministries
In a new era of performance athletics development there are school teams, recreation teams, and AAU organizations that give athletes opportunities to play their sports. Today athletes participate in traditional athletics during the school year and then move on to off-season competition in the AAU or “travel” environment. Specialization has become, for many, the norm and the necessity in today’s society. It is historically in the “out-of-school season” environment where athletes make the most improvements on their games and are impacted most on a personal level. Unfortunately, most every organization offering opportunities for athletes to play does not make the kind of personal impact for Christ that is needed to prepare the kids for a lifetime of temptations and soul wrenching experiences. Positive influences for Jesus are critical during these early years. Positive influence that leads athletes to make God-pleasing decisions. Many decisions made during this time in their lives can have a lasting impact if a wrong turn is taken.
Just look at many of the professional athletes making headlines in our society. While there are many who do have a positive impact, many others are making poor choices and our youth see it in living color on the playing fields, courts, and airwaves. A large number, if not all, of these athletes grew up playing year-round and being impacted by their coaches, parents, and their peers. Where did they go astray?
We believe that competitive play and intense training is essential for athletic success. Athletes who are trained by experienced professionals make greater gains in their development than athletes working on their own or simply playing year round. More athletes are receiving personal instruction than ever before. Choosing an organization that can deliver quality training may be difficult, but also finding an organization that provides positive role models and Christian mentorship can be daunting. Putting those qualities together is the key. That is what TPLS is all about.
Our core statement,“THERE IS NO OFF-SEASON” says it all in our approach to ministry… You never stop working on your game and the Biblical instruction from 2 Timothy 4:2 is to:
“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction.”
Objective
As we hope to take the reach and influence of this ministry to the next level, we realize that we have a greater need in staffing, resources, equipment, and so much more. As a 501(c)3 non-profit Christian ministry, TPLS has been in existence since 2007 and has achieved more than any other athletic ministry in the area. Over 100 athletes have benefitted from the ministry and received full athletic scholarships to play college basketball. In all, around 2,500 athletes from all walks of life, have participated and heard the saving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through basketball training, AAU play, and the TPLS Christian Academy experience.
