As Robbie Rotten on LazyTown,  has given laughter to children around the world. He created a foundation to help stop bullying.  He is a tireless advocate for special needs children.

And now Stefan Karl needs our help.

Stefan has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The operation he has had will prevent him from working for up to a year.

We want him to use that year to rest and recuperate so that he can once again return to what he does best - making kids smile all over planet Earth.

We are raising funds to help Stefan and his family survive the coming year.  Not only will they need assistance with medical bills, but it's important that Stefan be allowed to heal his body and spirit without the additional burden of financial need.

We appreciate any amount of gift you are able to extend to Stefan and his family. As he moves from this difficult time toward a full recovery, we ask for your generosity, your prayers and good wishes.

As Robbie Rotten would ask, "Why are those people making all that noise!?"

Let's answer Robbie with a thunderous noise of gratitude and joy for everything he's given to the world of children's entertainment!

Help spread the word!

Stefan's recent scans are good, which means he and his family enjoy the holidays without worrying about immediate problems.

Regarding some of your questions about the book Stefan is writing -- we hope to have that finished by the fall of 2018.

We'd also like to ask your permission to use some of your quotes that have appeared here on gofundme. If you would prefer that we not use your quote, please send a private message and we will make sure to avoid using yours. Otherwise your message might end up in the book. We're doing a chapter on the incredible support Stefan has received from his fans worldwide. You've been a big part of his story!

Just a quick update -- Some of you may have recently heard/read/watched various reports this past week that indicated Stefan's cancer has returned. This isn't exactly correct because, as he himself has said, the cancer never left. His condition is still being closely monitored via periodic scans, and for the time being, there have been no new metastases. That's the good news! The even better news is that he has been able, thanks to the kindness of a very generous friend, to make a trip with his family to a sunny and healing location where he can relax and soak up some good vibes. If his next checkups continue to be clear, his body will have an even greater chance to heal. He lives with the reality of his prognosis, but he's not letting it cloud his outlook. That courage and strength is partially due to the outpouring of affection you've sent in his direction. So thank you thank you. I'll come back with updates as new information arises.

Dear friends.

I have no words to describe how thankful I am to all of you, my friends. Your support and continuous thoughts, prayers and positive letters and encouragement have more to do with my success in the fight with cancer then you can imagine.
Let me tell you a little story.
During my travels around the US and North America with the Musical How The Grinch Stole Christmas, I got to meet children with cancer in almost every city we visited, more the 40 cities. I would dress up as the Grinch and visit the Children’s Hospital in each city and meet with very sick child that was strong enough to take a visit from the Grinch for a little story reading or just a short hello. Sometimes I could only wave to them through a glass window because they were too ill to make any contact to the outer world.
In my carrier I have also worked with “Make a Wish Foundation” and in Lazy Town we would have children visit the studio from all over the world and it felt so good to be able to make a difference.
But one girl will never leave my mind. We were playing “The Grinch” in Orlando, Florida 2015 and I had been asked by “Make a Wish Foundation” to meet with this girl, 12 years old, who had the dream of taking her family to Orlando and having a blast. She had gone to all the parks and seen a lot of shows during her stay but she really needed to meet The Grinch.
I asked her if she had had a good time with her family and friends in Florida and she said yes, it’s been great. And since I was in Character as The Grinch I asked her why she wanted to meet with me before the show, The Grinch of all people. Then she looked me in the eyes, smiled, stroked my hair and said: “I just wanted to see if I could make your heart grow three sizes”.
My eyes filled up with tears and I really had nothing to say and I remember thinking to myself “Stop, Stop it, you can’t be The Grinch and cry in front of this child”. I looked at her and said; “You have made my heart grow, yes”. Then the girl said ; “Well, you too Mr. Grinch” and then she gave me the warmest hug I have ever felt.

This story is about all of us, all of us who are ready to give till the last moment in our lives, help others with as little as a word or two or just a hug.

You are giving and you are healing and just remember, it doesn’t matter how long I live because it about how I live. Life is not tomorrow, life is now.

Big hug and love to you all
Stefan Karl

An update from Stefan Karl himself:

So, there is a little misunderstanding going on, but still there is a good reason to celebrate life. I have been asked by hundreds of people tonight if it’s true that I’m free of cancer. This is one of those questions I don’t really know how to answer -- but am I free of getting another metastasis? That we will not know in the coming weeks or months, that’s just how Cholangiocarcinoma of Bile Duct cancer works, you simply don’t know. I’m free of any cancer metastases right now after undergoing a very successful liver surgery in June this year performed by one of the best liver surgery team in the world, Kristin Huld Haraldsdottir and Sigurdur Blöndal at the Icelandic University Hospital. In the surgery they managed to find the third metastases and remove it, something they noticed by putting the sonar to my liver during surgery. So, I’m taken care of by the best, and thanks you all, my amazing fans out there, with your prayers and support I’m able to get the best medicine available and the home care I need to stay strong and healthy. I’m even planning to go back on stage doing Stones in His Pocket this month, but only for 10 shows at Iceland’s National Theater. Having said that; I’m NOT free of the danger yet - but I’m free of the metastases. I have refused any further adjuvant therapy, chemo or radiation, since there is less than 3% chance of it making any difference, but more likely it will make me more and more sick. So, if it comes back, if we are looking at another metastases, we will try surgery or nothing at all. I will keep you all posted, cross your fingers and keep thinking of me since I’m here for you just like you are there for me. By standing together we stand stronger, as you have proved so often with your amazing letters, GoFundMe support and prayers. Me and my family are so thankful to you all, and we always will be. Another thing….a little secret project -- I’ll tell you very soon, and you will be the first to hear, I promise. Yours always Stefan Karl #1

Hi Stefan. I can't donate, but I hope you can beat this. You mean a lot to so many people, myself because your character always made me laugh, but countless others for many reasons. I have autism, so LazyTown meant a lot more to me than most and Robbie Rotten always made me smile when he appeared to spoil Sportacus's plans and turn the town back to it's name roots. It always made me laugh when he was clumsy and scowly and you did it perfectly. I don't want LazyTown doesn't lose it's best resident yet, so please keep fighting. You never know when that dreadful Sportacus may come back! Feel better soon! ♥

This is absolutely heartbreaking news for me and so many others. I can't express my sympathy enough, Stefan. I've read through your AMA on Reddit, and your hope and bright spirit is simply inspiring! You have so much strength and I truly believe you will make it through this! You've brought a lot of joy to my life. Many laughs and smiles during difficult times. Thank you so much for being such a fantastic and genuine human being. I wish I could donate even the slightest bit but I'm unable to. My family is also struggling after my dog had gone through cancer treatment this past year. But I have done the best I could by sharing your campaign everywhere. I hope I was successful in helping you the only way I could. I wish I could do more. I hope with all my heart for the best for you and your family. And thank you so very much for everything you've done. Thank you, thank you!
