Jackson's Heart

Spende geschützt
In November of 2008, Jackson Lane was born. Immediately, doctors and nurses gathered around our tiny baby boy listening to his heart. He looked Completely healthy to us and we were at a loss as to what the fuss was about. Soon, we were told our little boy had a heart murmur and they would need to do further tests to find out what the cause was. After testing, a cardiologist came to inform us Jackson was born with a bicuspid aortic valve. His valve should have had 3 smooth "flaps" that met at the seam and closed, but instead Jackson only had 2 rough and jagged "flaps" that didn't meet properly. Because they were jagged, his valve can't perform its job, and it is leaking. The doctors began to tell us that "at this time, surgery is a last resort. We will monitor him closely over the upcoming days".
Well, Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and months turned into years. Every cardiologist appointment was met with nerves and fear, but we left everytime hearing "pictures look the same see you next time".

All of that changed in August of this year. Jackson's leakage had doubled and the excess blood was beginning to affect his ventricle. This caused added stress on his heart and it had made his blood pressure rise. Jacksons doctor decided to start him on blood pressure meds to see if he could therapeutically help the pressure.

It didn't work. Jackson's blood pressure is still rising. His leakage is getting greater. Jackson's heart valve is failing.

At 7 years old, Jackson Lane will have to have an open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve.
We are shocked and sad.
Soon we will travel to Boston to meet with surgeons at Boston Children's to discuss this surgery.

Our family needs help. We are asking for prayers for our sweet boys healing and recovery. This is a long process and we are just beginning.

At this point, we don't know what to expect. We do know that the average open heart surgery can cost from $80,000 - $150,000. We will be traveling from Louisiana to Massachusetts so this total could be even greater.

Please consider helping our son Jackson.

Thank you
Lane and Kellie Linton
