Frankie's fight against ALS

Donation protected
Hello!  Thank you for visiting our gofundme page.  Let me tell you our story.

Frankie, my beloved husband has been diagnosed with ALS.  If you don't know much about ALS or its more widley known other name, Lou Gehrig's Disease, I will try to explain it very simply.  There is no treatment and no cure for ALS.  It is fatal.  Most ALS patients live for 2-5 years after symptoms start.  Looking back, we think my husband's symptoms started 4 years ago.

Living with ALS comes with a huge finacial burden on families.  It's estimated that the cost of caring for a person with ALS is over $200,000 per year.

My husband had a fantastic job before he was diagnosed.  A job that allowed me to stay home and raise our 3 boys.  He has had to stop working and I am now his full time caregiver.  To say that our lives have drastically changed in the last few months would be a huge understatment.   Every day is different and we are trying to figure out our new normal.  He is getting weaker by the day and we are struggling to handle all of the emotions that consume us.

So many of our friends and family have offererd to help.  They want to know how they can help.  I was apprehensive to set up a gofundme account.  It is a very difficult thing to ask for money.  We are creating this gofund me account with humble hopes that we will touch some of you out there.

ALS does not care about your age, your gender, or your racial background.  No one knows why or how anyone gets diagnosed over anyone else.  I have always tried to live my life saying "What if?"  What if that were me, what if that happened to my family.  What would I do, what would I want people to do.  Well, now it is my family.

My husband is Puerto Rican and was raised in the Bronx, NY.  He is soft spoken and shy. He is the kindest man I know.  He loves me desperately and he is the most wonderfal Dad to our 3 boys.  He is widley funny and LOVES the NY Giants.   He would give his last $5 to anyone that needed it and has given money to people in need too many times to count.  I can't understand why this is happening to him.  I don't want to believe it, but I know it's real.  It is happening and I need to do everything I can to take care of him.  He has spent years working so hard for his family, now it's our turn to repay him in anyway that we can.    I want to make him comfortable and I want him to always know that I absolutely adore him.

We have been told by his neurologist to enjoy everyday together and to enjoy our boys.  We are trying.

Please find it in your hearts to make a donation to our family.  We will be forever grateful.

Thank you for reading our story.
