SeaTrek BVI Scholarship Program

Hello!

I am Capt. Monk Daniel, Director of Operations for SeaTrek BVI, a summer camp at sea program offering students the opportunity to learn Sailing, Scuba Diving and Marine Science in the British Virgin Islands and other islands throughout the Caribbean.

I wanted to make you aware of our Scholarship Program because I know first-hand the positive and life-changing impact our programs have on young people. SeaTrek is dedicated to Leadership Training, Responsible Exploration of the Ocean, Conservation of Marine Ecosystems, and Service to the Local Island Communities in which we interact every summer.

We have an entire program called Paying it Shoreward that focuses on ocean conservation and service activities. Pay it Shoreward and the SeaTrek Scholarship program are major initiatives of the not-for-profit organization called Sea Giving: Give and Sea Change! With ocean exploration and stewardship at its center, Sea Giving serves to develop and promote fundraising and scholarship opportunities, as well as research, education, and outreach efforts for youth and the coastal communities in which they work and explore.

It is without exception that every year as we start gearing up for the upcoming summer, we receive many letters, emails and phone calls inquiring about our Scuba, Sailing and Marine Science programs from families with financial need. Many of these families have children with a true desire to expand their life-experience, gain valuable skills, and dream of going on to impact the world around them for good. Their biggest challenge, however, is gathering the financial resources necessary to take that first step out of their neighborhoods and their suburban existences to begin to seek the extraordinary.

My wife, Kat, and I want to help these young people reach their potential and begin that journey toward personal growth, responsible citizenship, leadership, and service to the planet. For this reason, we fund a SeaTrek scholarship program. Unfortunately, we can only do so much ourselves and are hoping that you might be interested in helping out.
