Ms. Cora Mobility & Independence

HI there! Thanks for taking the time to get to know more about this wonderful young lady. Her (Ms. Cora) story starts on the 3rd paragraph. Ms. Cora spent her life sharing her warm heart by providing care for developmentally disabled adults in Tulsa, and now she needs some help with mobilty. In additoin to modifying her home's doorways, and building a ramp, i would love to surprise her with a new Hoveround chair. If you havent shopped for one, they are not cheap...$3,989 plus tax and freight! I have raised the money for her home repairs, and now we need your help for the chair.

First a bit about me and the what, and why i am doing. My name is Glynn Davis, and i have represented QuikTrip Corp. as the chair/lead for the Rebuilding Together Tulsa campaign for 10 years. Rebuilding Together is a national non-profit organization focused on providing clean, safe, and secure living for at risk seniors in communities across the country, at no cost to the home owner.  Since 1997 over 1600 homeowners have had their homes repaired by Rebuilding Together Tulsa volunteers! This amazing feat is accomplished through community volunteers, financial support, and materials provided by community donors.  165 homes in Tulsa will be repaired this year alone! A super bunch of folks! Check them out here Rebuilding Together Tulsa .

During my 10 years working with this wonderful group, i have led many teams, and built/repaired many ADA improvements, ramps, and homes. I have poured hundreds of hours, and many of my own dollars into supporting this cause because it is truly one of the most impactful, meaningful, and joyful endeavors i have ever been blessed to be apart of.

[Bio on Ms. Cora provided by Rebuilding Together Tulsa.]
*Ms Cora has lived in her Tulsa, OK home for 43 years. She worked with developmentally disabled adults as an aid until she was injured by one of the adults under her care in 2004. In 2006, she suffered a stroke that left her wheelchair bound.

She has 4 children. Two are living with a disability and live with Ms. Cora in her home. One of her sons also suffered a stroke in 2006 and was diagnosed with PML. Her other son is an amputee and is also wheelchair bound. He is temporarily living in a nursing home, receiving aid for atrophy in his remaining leg.

Ms. Cora does her best to get around her home but has limited mobility due to her stroke. A local church built her a ramp over 10 years ago, but it is in need of serious repair. (Not to worry, i am building her a beautiful new wooden ramp to ADA spec's). She is also in need of widened doorways for wheelchair accessibility throughout her home. (I'm also widening her doors, and making some modifications to her bathroom).

Despite all she and her family have endured in the past several years, Ms. Cora keeps a positive attitude and loves to smile and laugh with those who enter her home. She is grateful for the helping hands throughout her home!*

Ms. Cora is a ray of sunshine peeking through a stormy dull sky. I've met very few poeple with her outgoing and upbeat attitude amidst all life has thrown at her. Her current chair is too large and cumbersome to get around her early 20th century home. It also lacks a foot rest that properly secures her feet, and so she often runs over her own feet, OUCH! Ms. Cora thinks she is a horder, but i assured her, she is very very far from it. Her home is tight due to the age, and number of adults living with her, but it is by no means a mess. As clean and tidy as she keeps the place, there are spots that her large chair just cannot get through. A Hoverround MPV5 is just what she needs to regain her freedom, independence, and mobility in her home. It's a very nice piece, you can view here Hoveround MPV5.

The funds raised will be used for this chair, and any costs associated with getting it to her. Anything left over will be used to improve her home further, and make it more comfortable for her and her sons.

The funds are needed sooner than later but there is really no deadline. Would like to have it by the time i build her new ramp on 10/22/16.

Thank you so very much for your time, and kind donation. Please know you are supporting a great cause, and one of the nicest, sweetest ladies i have ever had the pleasure to meet. Ms Cora doesnt know about this, but i assure, the look, and smile on her face when she sees this will be priceless, and i will share!

Thank you,
 Glynn Davis
