Children's Hope is a non-profit organization based out of Sacramento that serves Haiti's most vulnerable children. Our efforts over the years have included, but are not limited to, visiting and providing aid to the Mabe Orphanage, Mother Theresa's Baby Hospital (caring for terminally ill babies), the Lamp Clinic and Sakala in Cite Soleil (Haiti's poorest and most notorious slum), as well as Wings of Hope (a home for disabled children). (See update #3 in our profile for a list of specific supplies we will use the funds for.)

Hurricane Matthew has caused the worst humanitarian
crisis since the 2010 earthquake. We are very concerned for all those at risk in Haiti, especially those who live at sea level in Cite Soleil and Jacmel. Not only are families in these low lying areas most at risk,
least likely to have access to food and clean water, they are also those least able to afford to evacuate. Additionally, a resurgence of cholera seems likely.

Thankfully, and because of you, we just sent Maco, our orphanage director back to Haiti with a power inverter and a generator for MABE orphanage; hopefully he can get through to Haiti from Florida. However, if the Lamp Clinic, Sakala, and Wings of Hope (just to name a few) survive this assault, they will also need our help more than ever.

If you can, please donate (any amount!!) and forward this message to your friends and family. We have no corporate support, Paul Burke and Leisa Faulkner do hand-carry aid directly to the poorest of the poor, into places that often even the American Red Cross will not go to.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Our hearts break as yet another natural disaster hits Haiti and so many of our friends and second families' safety is unknown.

*Post written by Hannah Rea, student of Paul and Leisa, who are the directors of the non-profit, Children's Hope. Leisa will withdraw these funds for medical, food, and water supplies, which will be directly delivered by Paul and Leisa themselves to Haiti in the next few weeks.*

The Children's Hope team (Paul, Leisa, Greg, and Jill) have returned from Haiti after 6 full days of delivering aid and providing support. They purchased and delivered 1600 pounds of rice, 175 gallons of bleach, 50 hygiene kits, 275 tarps, and enough candy for an entire village of children to get two pieces each. Their efforts reached well over 100 families in a remote village of southern Haiti that had not received any assistance or aid prior to their arrival. While our fundraising efforts have had a huge impact, many families are still in dire need of assistance. Please continue to share & donate. <3

UPDATE: Children's Hope is heading to Haiti TONIGHT!!! Paul, Leisa, Jill, and Greg will fly to Haiti to bring aid to Les Cayes. With your donations and Luke's muscles, they have packed 21 duffle bags FULL of supplies. Delta Airlines has waived the $2,925 in baggage fees, which allows for Leisa to DOUBLE the amount of rice she is able to buy for the local women's groups.

As Leisa stated, "It is hard to say thanks enough for your generosity. Thanks to each and every one of you for your amazing support on our 30th humanitarian trip into Haiti. You are on our team, whether you travel with us or not. All of you are- each student who brought me a bottle of children's vitamins, or three toothbrushes, each friend willing to work for one beer at the Voodoo concert, and each of you who donate regularly. Each gesture of love is carried in our hearts to Haiti today."

Please continue to share our page with friends and family in hopes of the possibility to return with more aid in the near future. Love always and love all ways.

This is just a small portion of the medication and supplies that will be delivered to Haiti in just 5 days! Please keep sharing and encouraging family and friends to donate. While the storm itself is over, both the widespread destruction and resurgence of cholera means the need for aid and support is greater than ever.
