Heal Los Angeles is a student organization at Loyola Marymount University located in Los Angeles, California. Heal Los Angeles’ mission is to strengthen and support children and families in need throughout the greater Los Angeles region by fighting child abuse, homelessness, and hunger.

On Saturday November 19th, we are hosting a Thanksgiving Celebration at Rogers Park located in Inglewood, California. We are planning to serve around 250-500 homeless people and low-income families with a warm Thanksgiving dinner.

We will strive to achieve our goal of $10,000, but what makes this event different from many other philanthropies seeking to raise money for a cause, is that it’s an event that will not only raise money to help insure the success of families, but to also bring together all aspects of our community: North side, South side, East and West, rich and poor, children and adults, college students and community members. All of these people, with so many different kinds of lifestyles and life experiences, will come together under one roof to celebrate one thing: they will celebrate a holiday together, as one community. A holiday that revolves around the notions of selflessness, hopefulness, and a commitment to serving others.

This event has the chance to truly inspire and bring together all of Los Angeles to celebrate these ideas, each other and our community... our home!

Any contribution is highly appreciated and we thank you for you efforts in healing Los Angeles.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our GoFundMe account. We are excited for our event that will be taking place on the 15th of December at the Boys & Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor.

We wanted to share on how the money will be send to us and who will be receiving the funds. We will be distributing the funds to our President of Heal LA, John Muto. The money will be going into his account and we will start paying for our vendors that will be at our event. Most importantly, we will be using the money to buy gift items for the club members. Please feel free to email John Muto at: Jmuto@lion.lmu.edu.

Thank you once again for everyone's support!

Heal Los Angeles planned to host a Thanksgiving dinner that would be serving meals to homeless and low income families in the Inglewood community.

We did EVERYTHING on our part to get this event organized for November 19th, but there was a problem during the process of getting the permit through the City. Since this issue occurred, we must CANCEL our Thanksgiving Celebration.

We were very sad to be informed of this news at the last minute. We were concerned about all the funding that was donated by everyone that believes in this organization. After much discussion, we have come up with a solution. Fortunately, we have planned a new event with the LA Boys & Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor.

On December 15th (Thursday) both Heal LA and the Boys & Girls Club will be hosting a Christmas Present Giveaway for all the members of the Boys & Girls Club. We will be providing Christmas presents for over 175 club members who live in deep inner-city areas. Most of these club members are coming from low income homes and their families cannot afford to buy presents for Christmas.

There are some great and touching stories from past years when the event was hosted. We are looking to make a difference in these children's lives by giving them an unforgettable Christmas! Pictures and videos will be shown on our social media as soon as the event ends. Everyone who has donated to us can see where ALL the money went to. Thank you for everyone's support!
