On August 20 my family had an unexpected death within it. Addiction has claimed yet another life. Brittany was a 27-year-old fun outgoing and bubbly person. She was taken from us too soon. We are currently raising funds to help with funeral expenses.

And now I see a comment from Shelby Liz that no one is begging for money in her family? How about you, Shelby, begging for money for a service dog for your inability to work because of your pill addiction? Pointing a finger leaves three fingers pointing back at yourself. Shame on you!

I wish I could help, but I am still paying off my sons funeral. He was the same age, and also died of an overdose. But I have something to say to "miss Shelby. Since you know so much about addiction, then you should know it is a disease, one my son fought for 9 months in rehab, but it is such a potent disease it killed him anyway! Get a heart lady, and at least have some empathy for this poor family! I am sure they don't want one stinking dime from you!

Shelby Liz McMichael- Addiction is a disease just like any other. Obviously you don't understand but to judge somebody who passed away isn't right. I hope you are a better person in the future. Its not about the money, it's about your response. Her family and friends need support, not negativity.

Shelby Liz McMichael, you need to educate yourself about addiction, and hope to God that it never touches your family. It is a horrible disease, not a choice, and it's infiltrating our youth, everywhere.

Shelby is just mad because no one is giving to her gofundme account. God bless Brittany Howard, may she rest in peace. No one asks to be an addict, honestly, who would choose that for their life? At least Brittany is now at peace, and my prayers and thoughts are with her family now.

A beautiful and bright young lady has lost her fight against addiction.. A mother and a father are left to mourn and all you can think about is YOUR hard earned money? I pray that the Howard family finds some level of peace and comfort from those that may not understand but are still willing to help out anyway they can. I suggest you delete your negative comment! The price of understanding (and keeping your judgemental comments to yourself) is free!

Shelby Liz McMichael you are a mean soul. How dare you come here and harass this family during a devastating time. I watched her episode of intervention just a couple days ago and she tried to get sober. But relapse is very common, as is a deadly overdose. You have no education on addiction apparently. Take your nasty comment down and find some heart.

Prayers To you and your family! I was deeply saddened to hear of your families tragic loss! It takes courage to seek help (On the show "Intervention" and here, especially in such a public way. I'm sorry for the negative comments that your family has been assaulted with during such a difficult time. As many know, relapse is often part of the recovery process with addiction. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be fatal. I hope your family can find peace and comfort from each other, your friends, community and of you have one, your church or place of worship! I will keep you all in my prayers! I unfortunately know the pain of loss and turmoil due to family and friends in addiction. May Brittany Rest In Peace! She was a brilliant, beautiful girl who was taken too soon! I'm glad she was able to experience some sobriety bc she seemed genuinely happy and it was inspiring to see that sparkle in her eyes come back (as her Mom said!) !

I just saw this episode and today. My heart pours with prayers and support to Brittany's family and friends. She was so beautiful and came such a long way. It is very sad and horrible disease for anyone to suffer. May she rest in peace and her famly have all the love and support that they deserve from the community. You are not alone.

I know all about addiction. My 35 year old cousin just had a massive stroke due to all the drugs he's done over the years. It sucks that he will never be the same but we aren't begging for money for his hospital bills.
